Here's a selection of the fantastic movie, fashion and alcohol billboard posters to be seen around L.A. (plus some taken in New York).
Compared to the UK, billboard advertising is much more prominent, especially here in L.A. where it's not so built up and the posters really do stand out.
Enjoy this visual feast of colourful and creative billboards...
Sexy underwear & eyewear billboards

Food & Alcohol billboards

A billboard for L.A.'s infamous Pink's hotdog stand on La Brea Blvd since 1939.
2008 Movie billboards
The Incredible Hulk movie (starring Ed Norton) billboards. The wall mural was shot in New York City and the raging Hulk, which really catches your eye, was taken on Sunset Blvd in L.A.
This impactful wall mural on the side of a building is of the Bat-pod from the new movie, taken in New York City.
Here's a wall mural from Melrose Avenue in L.A. with the 'Why so serious?' teaser tag-line for the movie.
And finally, Heath Ledger as The Joker, immortalised in this billboard on Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood.
Unlike the runaway blockbuster success of The Dark Knight, here are a few of Warner Bros. movie flops of the year - Speed Racer (this wall mural was shot on Melrose Avenue) and 10,000 BC (photographed near the Warner Studios in Burbank). Though reportedly bad movies, they make great visuals.
Obviously Warner wasn't the only studio to have it's share of bad films, as Twentieth Century Fox brought us the disappointing, The Happening (this billboard shot taken on Melrose Avenue).
This year also brought the return of some old favourites, such as Indiana Jones (billboard shot on La Cienega Blvd) and the ladies from Sex and the City (poster shot in New York).
The summer also introduced us to some new family favourites, such as Disney's futuristic robot WALL-E, snapped on Sunset Blvd.
Finally I'll leave you a taste of things to come later this year in TV and film, with a smattering of billboards all photographed on Sunset Blvd - Disney's Beverly Hills Chihuahua, teaser posters for The Spirit due Christmas 2008 and forthcoming TV show Trueblood.
It's a wonder anyone can stay on the road in L.A. with all this visual stimulus to distract them.
