Yesterday I highlighted my own personal adventures at the 99th Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco, so today here is another great selection of images featuring the costumes, floats, characters and craziness from the fun-filled morning of Sunday May 16, 2010.
Even though I'd seen photos of previous years, nothing quite prepared me for all the happy hordes of runners and spectators.
What was great about the event was that there were people of all ages there, young and old having a ball.
Outfits ranged from groups with the same t-shirts, wigs or headgear to more familiar costumes like Captain America, Fred Flintstone, Beetlejuice, Santa Claus or even Beaker from the Muppets.
Other creations included walking Rubik's Cubes, a papier-mache Pinata, a box of Crayons, Super Mario Karts and lots of fruity folk, from bunches of grapes to families of bananas.
I really admire anyone who actually ran in a costume (and made it to the finish line).
At the seven mile mark I ran past a Roman Centurion with full armour, complete with shield and spear, which couldn't have been comfortable to run in.
For some obviously it was just an excuse to get undressed and have some fun.
In addition to the colourful costumes, there were also some really inventive race floats, from Cool Runnings bobsleds to Maimi Vice boats, Baywatch lifeguard huts to army tanks, Viking and Pirate ships and more.
There were also lots of variations upon the Bay to Breakers theme, like 'Bay to Bunnies' and 'Bull 2 Breakers', to name just two examples.
Again if anyone recognises themselves in a photo do post a comment and let me know how you got on.
This was my first Bay to Breakers and I'm sure it certainly won't be my last now that I now the score.
I promise the next time I run it will be in costume, whether it be an astronaut, bird, dwarf, chef, superhero or some other suitable creation.
The countdown begins for the 100th Annual Bay to Breakers. If you thought this year looked wild, you can imagine the frivolity planned for next year's centennial celebrations...
