Strong winds mean beautiful blue skies over L.A...

There's nothing quite like a hike at Runyon Canyon with clear blue skies and a brisk wind to blow away the cobwebs.
Blue skies over LA Basin
Today was one of those days when the winds picked up and blew away all the low lying cloud and smog, making for spectacular views from the top of the mountain of the sprawling L.A. basin.
Los Angeles sprawl
Some of you may be wondering why the view of Downtown L.A. looks a bit murkier than the rest of the cityscape and that's because at that time in the morning, as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west over the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica, you are shooting into the sun which makes everything look a bit darker.

As you can see photographs taken with the sun behind and facing west, have dazzlingly blue California skies.

The cooling breeze was also perfect for keeping all the dogs from overheating as they played along the hiking trail.
Sunny May day in LA
With lovely sunny weather and views like these today it does remind you how amazing it is to live in L.A.

It's also the perfect time to be out and about taking lots of photos, so bye for now, I'm off to enjoy the rest of the glorious day...
