A gay time at West Hollywood's Pride Parade 2010 - Part three...

Sometimes life can be a drag, that is, unless you're watching the 40th Annual L.A. Gay Pride Parade when it's a Drag Queen extravaganza.

Yesterday my photo highlights of the Parade were all about the hot guys on display and before that the celebrities that turned out to show their support.

Today is all about the explosion of glamour, wigs, heels, outfits and attitude that struts its stuff down Santa Monica Boulevard from Crescent Heights to Robertson Boulevard.

Headlining the parade of drag this year was the recently crowned winner of the second season of the reality TV contest, RuPaul's Drag Race, its mission to find America's next Drag Superstar.

Tyra Sanchez brought the big hair (and big chest), and was accompanied by fellow contestant, the lovable Puerto Rican drag queen, Jessica Wild.

This year the Aid for Aids charity float also starred 'Best in Drag Show' winner Jonathan Wallace as 'Sybil Rights' who was crowned at the Best in Drag Show on October 18, 2009.

The queens came from near and far to support L.A.'s Pride, from Las Vegas, Orange County to name but two.

I have to say though, some people are just born to work that runway, others simply follow (or are left far, far behind).

From one highlight of the Parade to another, the infamous Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, who spread cheer and joy with their fabulously colourful costumes.

Not strictly drag queens, this worldwide sisterhood of queer nuns that were founded in 1979 to combat HIV and AIDS, minister to the masses with glitter, joy, charity and the occasional tongue-lashing.

They are just a delight to see and are always a real crowd pleaser, always happy to pose with people and have their photo taken.

I've heard people complain that West Hollywood's Pride Parade is not as fabulous or doesn't have the same party vibe as San Francisco or New York (I've not seen them yet so I can't compare).

Back home in the U.K. we don't tend to do the big floats and carnival atmosphere as much for Pride, it's always been more about a presence and political march through the streets of London (then there's the parties and festival afterwards). So I love all the colourful spectacle of the Parade in West Hollywood.

I sometimes wish the balance of politicians and attorneys could be redressed, and really a truck and a bus with no decorations or theme is not a float, but I still enjoy Los Angeles Gay Pride and think it's up to locals to make a difference too.

If you don't like it and feel it needs more glamour, more participants or floats,
get involved yourself and become active in your gay community to organise something fabulous.

In addition to all those with padding, the transgender community was also represented with this fantastic float full of beauties.
