2010 - a year in review...

Doesn't time fly when you're having fun? But, just where did 2010 go?

I have to say I've had great time in and around Los Angeles this past year, and these are just some of the highlights of an amazing twelve months...

January saw my blogging empire expand when I launched Daily Billboard, indulging my fascination with all the cool billboards dotting L.A.'s skyline...

We continued to enjoy being so close to the ocean and ventured to Santa Barbara with Cooper for fun and games along the dog-friendly shore of Hendry's Beach...

Plus we tried our hand at whale-watching in the Channel Islands, but sadly being late in the season, all we saw were some sea-lions...

San Francisco welcomed us in May for the 99th Annual Bay to Breakers 12k race, which was the rowdiest costumed affair you've ever seen. It was the perfect way to train for my first half marathon later in the year and great fun to run with friends. We're already signed up for the 100th year in 2011...

We continued to make the most of L.A.'s outdoor lifestyle and took advantage of Cooper's wealthy dog friends to have a few puppy play-dates in the swimming pool...

This year we had less outings to the Hollywood Bowl, but we did see some great shows, including the inaugural year of Singalong Grease...

This year finally marked another milestone for gay rights when Harvey Milk Day was officially celebrated as a holiday for the first time in California on May 22, 2010 (Harvey Milk's birthday), to honour his life's work for the gay community and to remember his assassination.

In June I enjoyed the diversity and fabulousness of L.A.'s annual Gay Pride Parade, now in its 40th year...

For the Fourth of July weekend we took ourselves off to Palm Springs with some friends for fun, sun and relaxation...

In July we took advantage of the dire property market and bought a new condo in West Hollywood, rather than throw money away on renting, allowing us to refurbish the apartment in our own style and make it feel like a home...

Fantastic news and a great victory for gay rights came in August when the first steps to overturn Prop 8 took place, when a federal judge deemed denying same-sex marriage unconstitutional...

Also during August Santa Monica Boulevard was illuminated with some classic neon signs as part of the On Route 66 public art display...

This year I crossed another thing off my 'to do' list and finally ventured out at night to photograph the fascinating Urban Light sculpture at LACMA, the installation of 202 antique iron streetlamps look even more impressive in the dark...

September saw me get all sporty and run my first ever Half Marathon at Disneyland in a fantastic time of 1:44:30...

I wonder what 2011 will bring, good things I hope. I know for sure there's a trip back to the U.K., friends visiting us in L.A., a marathon in March and maybe even a wedding.
