The fresh pup of Bel Air...

How much fun can two Labradors have with a swimming pool in the hills of Bel Air? The answer, lots and lots and lots.

My new favourite comedy Cooper moment
Comedy pool Labrador Cooper
Take one yellow Labrador and one chocolate Labrador and a swimming pool and you have the recipe for a fantastic afternoon of non-stop pool play.

On Saturday we had the opportunity to take Cooper for a play-date to a home more befitting his 'Hollywood Hound' status.

We were invited up to his Runyon Canyon hiking pal, chocolate Labrador Woody's, new hilltop mansion in Bel Air to enjoy his fabulous pool with its spectacular views of the surrounding hills, plus Westwood and Downtown L.A. city skyline.

Initially a bit wary of the swimming pool as a pup, Cooper has quickly found his true retriever heritage and at two years old is now an excellent diver and swimmer - he truly has become a marvel to watch.

Cooper is no longer the student and has become the master of pool diving, trying to encourage his pal Woody to jump in.

Woody was having none of it and was far happier to wait for Cooper to fetch all the toys and then take them off as he got to the poolside, or even mid-swim.

Thankfully our pup is a sweet natured dog and isn't at all possessive so readily gives up his prize, probably with the hope that someone else will throw another toy into the pool for him.

It was great to see both Labradors having such fun in one of their natural habitats.

They really do love the water and you could see how genuinely happy they were playing together.

Cooper would have gladly chased balls into the pool all day if we'd have kept throwing them, even though you could see he was getting exhausted.

Even at the beach he doesn't really get the chance to have a good swim, so it was great that he made the most of the pool.

You have to agree, he looks mighty impressive diving into that pool. He has great form and can cover a good distance. He's like 'Superdog'.

Our host Woody was far more reserved and just enjoyed the company and the chance to try out his new pool with a fellow Labrador.

We're all hoping this isn't the last time we get a chance for these two to play together in the pool. Maybe next time we'll get Woody diving in after his buddy Cooper.

Maybe one day when Cooper is a Hollywood star we'll be able to afford our own Bel Air mansion with swimming pool, until then we'll rely upon the kindness of friends.

I hope you've enjoyed this glimpse of Cooper's ongoing misadventures, long may the sun shine and our pup continue to have glorious fun...

Letters to Juliet is a love letter to Italy...

Letters to Juliet is a totally predictable romantic comedy and a real love letter to the beauty of Italy, but despite all that, or maybe because of that, I throughly enjoyed it.
Letters to Juliet movie billboard
Amanda Seyfried makes a believable and likable leading lady, 'Sophie', who wants to evolve beyond her fact-checking status to full blown writer and on a pre-honeymoon trip to Verona, Italy, with her fiance chances upon a sweet story that changes her life.

Whilst her future husband busies himself with potential suppliers for his New York restaurant she discovers the 'secretaries of Juliet', who answer the letters of lovelorn women who leave messages for Shakespeare's literary 'star-cross'd lover'.

Finding a fifty year old letter left by the wonderful Vanessa Redgrave, she encourages 'Claire' to take a chance on love and return to Italy to seek out her childhood sweetheart 'Lorenzo'.

Accompanied by her very British grandson 'Charlie', a bit of an unromantic 'cold fish', the threesome set off to track down this long lost love in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany.

The scenery is breathtaking and I think because I've visited Siena in the past, you always have a different appreciation of a film when you can identify with the location and circumstances.

Even though the male actors are woefully outclassed by the female characters, it's still a sweet and endearing love story regardless of how cliche it may be.

I give Letters to Juliet three *** stars and it made for a charming alternative to Sex and the City 2 which was sold out on its opening weekend.

If you love Italy and romance, you'll love Letters to Juliet...

Fabulous fashion, alcohol and cool billboards around L.A. in May 2010...

The other day you saw all the fantastic new film and TV billboards lining the skyline of L.A. and today it's the turn of the fabulous fashion, alcohol and other cool advertisements grabbing my attention out there in May.

Alcohol billboards
There seems to be a bit of a 'vodka war' going on above the streets of L.A., with Svedka, Effen and Skyy vodka all trying to catch your eye. I'm surprised we've not seen more of the big guns, Smirnoff and Absolut muscling in to protect their territory.

After all the fabulous Svedka robot ads, I'm loving this billboard for Skyy Infusions new ginger variant. The colours are so rich and vibrant and it has a true Hollywood starlet quality about it.
I also like this billboard for Don Julio Tequila, it's simple but effective and I love that blue colour they've used - it makes me feel that this tequila will be a very smooth experience.
Finally here's a billboard for place where you can get really strong cocktails using all the vodka and tequila you like (and you may even get served by buff bartenders like those boys in the picture). West Hollywood's The Abbey bar celebrates it's 20th anniversary.

Fashion & Beauty billboards
Calvin Klein is certainly getting in to the summer spirit with this showering bikini babe billboard along Sunset Boulevard.
I usually find Joe's Jeans billboards quite drab and bland, but I really like this quirky shop window full of mannequins, it's very clever and eye-catching.
Another brand which has drastically improved their advertising is Aldo Shoes, they've also gone from bland and boring to bright and bubbly recently.
Finally for fashion and beauty is this simple, wistful fragrance billboard for Chanel No.5 starring actress Audrey Tautou.

Travel billboards
These billboards for Virgin America airlines are so fresh and bright and totally on target for the youthful Virgin brand and they can be seen all over Los Angeles with lots of different straplines and models.

Other cool billboards
Next is a selection of miscellaneous billboards for health and fitness, technology, performing arts and animal welfare. Up first is this eye-catching green billboard for West Hollywood's yoga and cycling studio. It's certainly eye-catching with it's simple imagery and tongue-in-cheek name.
Next, you can tell that summer is nearly here when you start seeing these billboards for the Hollywood Bowl season. There really isn't anything quite like a concert at the open air amphitheater on a beautiful Californian evening.
I totally agree with the sentiment of this billboard for Lumix, 'If it has a ringtone, it's not a camera'. Whilst I love the handiness of my iPhone camera, there's nothing like a real camera for great quality images, with flash and zoom capabilities.
Finally there's this PETA billboard starring naked actress and TV show host Olivia Munn to encourage people to boycott the circus for their use of animals from the wild, like elephants.

Come back next month for another eclectic mix of billboards from around the City of Angels in June 2010 and check out Daily Billboard every day for the latest striking billboard designs for movies, television, fashion and so much more...
