I always try and keep my finger on the pulse of local happenings in West Hollywood, and I couldn't help but notice this fantastic living billboard installation along Sunset Boulevard for new festive family movie, Arthur Christmas.
It's only a temporary PR stunt, but you have to admit it's a great idea to raise awareness for the new movie and their chosen charity, Toys for Tots.
They actually have a guy dressed up as Santa's son, 'Arthur', from the animated movie, plus helper elves in the street waving to people and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.
The Arthur lookalike even answers phone calls from his billboard platform, whilst passing cars honk their approval. It really is great fun for the holiday season (even though the sun is shining here in L.A. and it feels very un-Christmaslike at the moment).
I feel sorry for the poor actor(s) in that sweater in the sunshine, he must be baking.
Mind you if you look closely, the mystique of the live-action installation is slightly shattered by all the PR execs milling about at the base of the billboard, no doubt making sure the elves keep smiling.
You have to admit this is a pretty amazing spectacle and something you don't see every day.
You can also see more fun Arthur Christmas billboards around L.A. and New York at my Daily Billboard blog, so check them out.
It's only mid-November but I can't resist, Merry Christmas to one and all...
