Running the AIDS Walk L.A. with Team to End AIDS...

At T2: Team to End AIDS we like to do somethings a little differently, so instead of walking the annual AIDS WALK Los Angeles we also run ahead of the thousands of walkers.

T2: Team to End AIDS lead the AIDS Walk L.A. 2012

For some of us this short run replaced our weekly marathon training for Honolulu in two months and for others it kicked off a new training season for the L.A. Marathon 2013.

Plus it's a great chance to catch up with old friends and teammates from previous running seasons.

Of course everyone is there to support AIDS Project L.A. and raise awareness for the charity and its endurance training programs, which help raise much needed funds for people living with HIV/AIDS.

As ever it's a great opportunity to run the closed off empty streets of West Hollywood and L.A., although this year was a slightly shorter course, turning at Fairfax and not La Brea Avenue so a gentle 4 miles rather than 6 miles.

And as you can see it was a beautiful morning. The skies were perfectly clear and the sun was shining, making for a hot run starting at 10am compared to our normal 7am Saturday starts.

Fortunately there were plenty of water stations to help hydrate all the runners and walkers, plus lots of friendly cheering squads along the route to keep everyone motivated (just a small taste of what first time marathoners can expect when they do the real thing next year).

And water wasn't the only liquid available post race as our running club had arranged a party to celebrate the kick off of a new season and act as a recruitment drive at bar Eleven, where mimosas helped quench our Sunday morning thirst.

If you're interested in running the L.A. Marathon in March 2013 and fundraising for APLA, be sure to check out the T2: Team to End AIDS website for more details.

I've already signed up with them for my third (and hopefully fastest) L.A. Marathon, so why not join me...
