Movie, TV and music billboards around L.A. in December...

At the same time the fashion, drinks and lifestyle advertisers were trying to woo you with their festive wares this month, Tinseltown was trying to get bums in seats, whether at the cinema or in front of your TVs, to catch their latest offerings.

Movie billboards
Guilt Trip movie billboard
In early November I saw Hollywood legend Barbra Streisand perform at the Hollywood Bowl so it's amusing now to see her teaming up with a funny guy from a new generation, as Seth Rogen's mother in The Guilt Trip.
Playing for Keeps movie billboard
Meanwhile poor Gerard Butler can't seem to catch a break, as each movie he's starred in lately (Machine Gun Preacher, Chasing Mavericks) has underperformed or totally bombed like his new rom-com, Playing for Keeps.
This is 40 movie billboard
Another big comedy this month was This is 40, although do we really need toilet humour like this filling the skies of L.A. I suppose at least you know what kind of film you'll be getting.
Jack Reacher movie billboard
Now that I've seen Jack Reacher I can tell you you'll get an entertaining, but old-fashioned movie, whether you deserve it or not is your decision.

If you're a fan of the movie and Lee Child's literary hero, be sure to check out this muscle car and original costumes from Jack Reacher on display.
Hobbit movie billboard
The first installment of The Hobbit is next on my list to watch at the cinema (our Boxing Day treat was Les Misérables), and we've just finished re-watching the extended edition Lord of the Rings Blu-rays so we're ready for some more Tolkien goodness.
Django Unchained movie billboard
Meanwhile, Quentin Tarantino was back this Christmas with a lovely festive tale of slavery, revenge and violence with his take on a Southern Western, Django Unchained.
Zero Dark Thirty movie billboard
Zero Dark Thirty, about the 10-year manhunt for Osama bin Laden, was apparently delayed because it was accused of being pro-Obama propaganda by Republicans before the Presidential Election. Now it's being criticized because of inaccurate depiction of torture tactics or the like and as it's a movie folks are worried that the general viewing population will take the events of this film as gospel and historically accurate, rather than the Hollywood produced entertainment it is.
Gangster Squad movie billboard
Another movie delayed due to controversy is Gangster Squad set in 1940's L.A. Apparently a scene in the movie unfortunately mirrored certain events at the horrific Aurora cinema shootings in Denver and had to be replaced, delaying the release date.

But regardless of any scandal, be sure to check out these original cars, costumes and props featured in Gangster Squad on display.
Monsters Inc 3D billboard
Ahead of the movie sequel, Disney/Pixar's Monsters, Inc. is back in theatres this month in 3D for the first time and has this fun creative featuring the one-eyed 'Mike Wazowski' above Hollywood Boulevard.
Dark Knight Rises giant BluRay billboard
As it's gift-giving season Warner Bros. Studios made sure with more billboards, special extensions and giant versions, that The Dark Knight Rises would be top of your purchase list and in someone's sticking this Christmas.
Dark Knight Rises Blu-Ray billboard
If you're a fan of the movie, be sure to check out these original Bane, Catwoman and Batman costumes from The Dark Knight Rises on display.
Hunger Games Epix billboard
Plus another big movie getting a second life in January will be the box-office smash featuring Jennifer Lawrence as 'Katniss Everdeen' in  The Hunger Games.

TV billboards
Giant Girls season 2 TV billboard
Lena Dunham provides a fresh faced change to the usual HBO billboard site this month with this super-sized creative for the second season of the hit newbie Girls
Carrie Diaries series premiere billboard
From twentysomethings to teens growing up in the NYC, and Sex and the City gets an 80's based prequel with The Carrie Diaries.
Prosecuting Casey Anthony billboard
From fiction to real-life and Rob Lowe headlines the new Lifetime TV movie about the high-profile trial of Casey Anthony.
You are watching Adult Swim billboard
And Adult Swim ends a year full of fantastic billboards for their quirky, off-beat shows with this cool Cinemascope style billboard. Be sure to check out all the other Adult Swim billboards from 2012.

Music billboards
Bruno Mars Unorthodox Jukebox billboard
I'm liking the sound of Bruno Mars latest tracks and his fun gorilla billboard lives up to its 'Unorthodox Jukebox' album title.
Pitbull Global Warming billboard
Whilst Pitbull is ready to get the party started with this billboard for his new 'Global Warming' album.
ACDC iTunes billboard
Plus just like The Beatles a little while ago, AC/DC's music is now available on iTunes.

Radio billboards
Jack FM voted best station billboard
And finally this month, I also spied another of 93.1 Jack Fm's clever radio billboards which always make me smile with their simple humour.

Remember if you like this round-up be sure to check out Daily Billboard every day for more great ad creatives from around L.A. and beyond.

Let's hope the skies with be filled with more fabulous billboards in 2013...
