I love Hollywoodland's costumes and props on display...

One of my favourite things about living in LA-LA land is being able to glimpse behind the magic curtain once in a while and see original costumes, props, models and even vehicles from the movies I see on the big screen on display. It never gets old and I always feel so fortunate for being able to see them up close and in person because I live in Hollywood where all the big studios are located.

My most recent discovery were these spectacular Iron Man movie suits on display at Tommorowland's Innoventions attraction at Disneyland in Anaheim, to help promote Marvel's forthcoming Iron Man 3. If you like this, be sure to check out the latest Iron Man 3 Mark 42 suit and Tony Stark's other armours in more detail at my dedicated costume and props blog.

Not as fantastical as a high-tech Iron Man suit, but I also recently spied these costumes worn by Mark Wahlberg, Dawyne 'The Rock' Johnson and Anthony Mackie in their new crime comedy Pain & Gain.

At the same time fashion designer Marc Jacobs outfit from Disconnect, his acting debut, was also on display.

In March the ArcLight Hollywood cinema also had film costumes worn by Eva Mendes, Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper, plus a motorcycle featured in The Place Beyond The Pines too.

I also took a trip to Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre in March to see Disney's Wizard of Oz prequel and spied a fantastic assortment of original costumes and props from the fantasy movie on display.

In February I once again ventured to Universal Studios Hollywood to see what new delights were on show in their ever-changing movie and TV archives exhibit.

Included in the collection of new and classic memorabilia from the big and small screen, were original costumes worn by Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne in Les Miserables, plus cool stop-motion animation puppets and models from ParaNorman were also available for all visitors to see.

In addition there were costumes from movies like the Fast & Furious film franchise and Gladiator, plus costumes and props from TV series like Will & Grace, 30 Rock, Passions, Eureka and more. It really is an eclectic treasure trove and worth the visit every time.

Meanwhile during January I spotted two costume exhibits for the fun fantasy movie, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, one each at Arclight Hollywood and Sherman Oaks locations.

The first display featured costumes worn by Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the titular witch hunters, whilst the other exhibit had three original witch costumes from the movie, including the fabulous gown worn by Famke Janssen. Be sure to check out these fantastic costumes from Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters in more detail.

Original costumes from The Shining on display at LACMA

Also in January I headed to LACMA to see the Stanley Kubrick exhibition, which was a wonderful retrospective of the filmmaker's work, including actual costumes, props and models from such classics as The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Full Metal Jacket, Spartacus, A Clockwork Orange and Eyes Wide Shut.

And finally, one of my favourites from last December was this Gangster Squad costume, prop and car exhibit which showcased the costumes worn by Emma Stone, Josh Brolin, Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling out of display cases (which is always a treat and far better to photograph), beside gleaming classic cars featured in the period crime movie.

Now can you see why I love living in Hollywoodland? There's always so much exciting stuff from the movies to see...
