The 009ers conquer the evil 20 mile training run...

Yes, we did it again. Another 20 miles in the bag and another week closer to the L.A. Marathon on March 9, 2014.

We are the 9 minute pace group, or as we like to call ourselves the '009ers' - on Her Majesty's Sercret Service, tasked with raising money and awareness for AIDS Project L.A. and finishing the L.A. Marathon 2014 in under four hours, fates permitting.

This morning I was up at 4:45am and we were running by 6:15am. Weather conditions were cold and windy at first, but perfect for such a long tiring run - cool, bright and clear.

We're only five weeks away now from the big day and we're up to the high mileage to help condition us for the big race. Today was not about times (although we wanted to be on pace), but about completing in one piece, in high spirits and with no injuries.

As a special treat, as pace group mentor I organized some special t-shirts to reward our guys and gals, and you have to agree we look very dapper in black, with our team logo emblazoned on the back and front of our running shirts courtesy of Runyon Canyon Apparel.

If you like these shirts, and are a runner or enjoy exercising in the great outdoors, you should definitely check out our fellow T2: Team to End AIDS alumni's fantastic website Runyon.co (which is inspired by my Labrador Cooper's favourite morning hiking trail), which has all kinds of gear for the gym, hiking, trail running and more.

As you can see we had a lot of fun this morning, although we were all relieved to have finished, and our training run was made even sweeter by the news that our entire training group has now raised $125,000 for AIDS Project L.A. this season. These funds go to work helping people as soon as they are donated, so we're doing a fantastic job, but there's still more to do.

If you'd like to support our fundraising efforts, please DONATE TODAY, as in three weeks we run 23 miles.

I've already been overwhelmed by the support from friends, family and supporters this season, helping to make me the current top fundraiser, so any amount from $5 or more, is greatly appreciated.

We'll keep running, if you keep supporting. After all, it is our mission as 009ers...
