The gay-friendly city certainly seems to be making an effort this year to mark the occasion, let's face it we have lots to celebrate with the overturning of Prop 8 and DOMA Supreme Court victories this time last year, plus there have been significant awareness wins for the transgender community in recent months.

Maybe this is the city's way of making up for removing the rainbow Pride flag from the City Hall earlier this year, which is a shame considering 40% of the population is gay or lesbian according to city surveys.

Regardless, it certainly makes the neighborhood look pretty in advance of the hundreds of thousands of people, locals and visitors, who will descend on West Hollywood this weekend for the Pride Parade and festivities.

We even have a slightly higher profile Parade Grand Marshal this year in the form of pop star Demi Lovato to help please the crowds.

Not even L.A.'s notorious 'June Gloom' could dampen the colourful spirit of these decorations this weekend...
