Welcoming home the heroes of the AIDS LifeCycle 2014....

You're all normally used to me harping on about the latest marathon I've run, but this weekend we came out to welcome home all the heroes of the annual AIDS LifeCycle who rode an amazing 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles for charity.

Greetings from the AIDS Life Cycle Finish Line 2014
Greetings from AIDS LifeCycle
Amongst the riders this year was one of our good friends on his first ever AIDS LifeCycle, who has raised $11,000 personally, which is phenomenal in terms of the physical achievement and the fundraising effort.

This year close to 3,000 participants spent the first week of June riding down the beautiful California coast to raise over $15 million to help the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the HIV/AIDS-related services provided by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center.

Tomorrow some of these local riders will take their place in the L.A. Pride Parade, but for now they had all their friends, family and supporters to welcome them back to the VA Center in West L.A.

Our friend and his teammates have already signed up for next year's ride, so you can only imagine what a life-changing event this is and I have many friends who have participated for many years.

Personally I'm going to stick to my running, as I'm far safer on two feet (and I still manage to injure myself constantly), and on a bike I'd be deadly.

Congratulations to all the cyclists that completed the ride this year, you're all champions and gold medals all around. Now you have a nice relaxing bath, long sleep and a cocktail or two, you all deserve it.

Wishing you all a wonderful prideful weekend of rainbows and unicorns wherever you may be....
