Freddie Mercury tribute heralds a fourth GuitarTown series along the Sunset Strip...

Launched in August 2010, West Hollywood's outdoor art project GuitarTown is back with a fourth series of musical tributes to rock and pop legends.

So get ready for the Sunset Strip to once again be invaded by 10-foot-tall Gibson Les Paul guitars designed and decorated by a myriad of artists, like this homage to British rock band Queen's iconic lead singer, Freddie Mercury, by Rubén Esparza.

As always all these over-sized guitars will be auctioned for charity, but not before most of them pop up to brighten the city streets as in previous years.

This particular guitar can be found outside Hornburg Jaguar at the corner of 9176 Sunset Boulevard and Cory Avenue.

And if you like this latest creation, be sure to check out the GuitarTown sculptures from 2010 that kicked off the public art initiative, plus all the artistic tributes since to icons and bands like Alice Cooper, KISS, ZZ Top, Blondie, Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin and many more.

It's always fun spotting the new additions to the neighbourhood, outside bars, clubs and hotels, so I look forward to what this 2014 wave of guitars has to offer and hope they'll rock the Sunset Strip once again...
