From the depths of outer space to the history of the past, this last month has delivered some epic new film costume and prop exhibits in L.A. from movies like Exodus: Gods and Kings, Interstellar, The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything.
Original film costumes from Exodus: Gods and Kings
on display at ArcLight Hollywoodcostumes worn by Joel Egerton and Christian Bale in Ridley Scott's new Biblical epic, Exodus: Gods and Kings.
The detailed golden Egyptian Pharaoh 'Ramesses the Great' costume worn by Joel Edgerton is one of my favourite costumes in a long while and Christian Bale's Egyptian General armour is certainly a different take on 'Moses'.
What I love most though is that these costumes designed by Oscar-winner Janty Yates, are so well made upon close inspection (and I've seen my fair share of movie outfits on display in recent years), whereas some lower quality wardrobe choices can often hide their flaws behind the magic of the big screen but don't look so good in person.
Interstellar movie costume and prop exhibit
at ArcLight Hollywood cinema
Once again the director's filmmaking isn't 100% perfect, but I love how he always brings something original and different with every film and there's lots to like in this epic science fiction tale.
If you enjoyed the movie, be sure to see these original film costumes and props from Interstellar in more detail.
The Imitation Game movie costume exhibit at ArcLight Hollywood
I was oblivious to the fact that the genius mathematician, cryptologist and logician was gay and that his team helped turn the tide against Nazi Germany's forces in WWII and was instrumental in creating modern day computer science, and that after the war he was persecuted for being homosexual by the very country he had served, which ultimately led to his apparent suicide.
These costumes from The Imitation Game worn by Mark Strong and Keira Knightley were photographed on display at ArcLight Hollywood on November 18, 2014.
The Theory of Everything movie costume exhibit
at ArcLight Hollywood and Sherman Oaks cinemas
From one genius to another and the 'Stephen Hawking' biopic, The Theory of Everything, is getting a lot of Oscar attention or its star, Eddie Redmayne.
The first display was snapped at the end of October at ArcLight Hollywood, including the wedding dress worn by Felicity Jones as 'Jane Hawking' (the theoretical physicist's first wife, upon whose book the film is based), whilst the other 60's inspired outfits were captured at the cinema's Sherman Oaks location on November 11, 2014.
Be sure to check these original costumes from The Theory of Everything in more detail.
As you can see, as we near awards season, more and more costume and prop exhibits are starting to appear to catch voters attention, which suits me just fine. Let's hope they keep coming in the run up to the Holidays, as for me it will be like having an early Christmas present.
Come back soon to see what new treasures I discover in the coming weeks...
