Three more GuitarTown 2014 tributes spotted along Sunset Strip...

Following the recent rain it feels like more GuitarTown tributes than ever have popped up along the Sunset Strip to brighten up the local neighbourhood.

This colorful painted guitar is just one of the latest designs from the fourth wave of GuitarTown public art installation that launched in August 2010 and have been used to honour music legends and raise money for contemporary music-based charities over the years, plus their presence also reinforces that the Sunset Strip is still the home of rock and roll.

This year the guitars paid homage to the annual Sunset Strip Music Festival and this 'Doublebooked' guitar, currently on display outside Carney's hotdog train car restaurant, was a tribute to festival honoree, Jane's Addiction, and day two headliner Empire of the Sun.

Meanwhile further west, outside West Hollywood's Andaz Hotel you can also find a third guitar design by artist Willard Snow. This over-sized Gibson Les Paul is an homage to the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia.

If you like this psychedelic black and white design, be sure to also check out these other guitar tributes to Janis Joplin and Bob Marley by the same artist, which can currently be found at the start of the Sunset Strip as you enter from Beverly Hills into West Hollywood. Plus the other Marc Bolan guitar tribute can be found at the entrance in the Andaz Hotel's foyer.

These guitars must certainly give tourists something to wonder about as they drive by in their open-top mini-buses and they help keep things interesting for us locals too.

Keep on keeping on GuitarTown...
