Oscar nominee and more movie billboards spied in L.A.'s skies in February 2015...

Now that Hollywood's most prestigious awards event is out of the way for another year life can return to what counts as relatively normal in L.A. Here's a roundup of all the Oscar contender billboards, plus the other film and music billboards filling the city skyline this February in the run up to the 87th Academy Awards.

Movie billboards
2015 Oscars Neil Patrick Harris billboard
Neil Patrick Harris did a solid, if unremarkable, job of hosting the Oscars this year, bringing his Broadway experience and love of magic to the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, where this billboard for the live broadcast was spied.
Imitation Game Oscar billboard
Benedict Cumberbatch may have missed out on an Oscar (but thankfully Eddie Redmayne won for his role in The Theory of Everything rather than Michael Keaton in Birdman), but The Imitation Game still took home the Academy Award for Best Writing Adapted Screenplay and Graham Moore gave one of the most personal and inspirational speeches of the evening. "Stay weird", indeed!
Still Alice Best Actress Oscar nominee billboard
Julianne Moore took that always the bridesmaid, never the bride adage last night and stomped it into the ground by winning the Best Actress Oscar for Still Alice, following four previous Academy nominations.
Big Hero 6 Oscar nominee billboard
Big Hero 6 and 'Baymax' may have won hearts at the box office, but they also took home the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film, which proves that Academy voters prefer an original movie to a sequel like How to Train Your Dragon 2.
Whiplash Oscar nominee billboard
Whiplash's J. K. Simmons took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, joining his Golden Globe and SAG Award
Boyhood Oscar nominee billboard
And Patricia Arquette took home the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Boyhood and gave a great speech about women's pay equality.
American Sniper Oscar nominee billboard
American Sniper may have broken box office records, but the film only won one Oscar for Sound Editing.

if you like these outdoor ad campaigns for the nominees, be sure to also check out these other 2015 Oscar contender billboards around L.A. this month.
Insurgent movie billboard
Now that the Oscars are over it's time to get back to the new movies vying for your attention and dollars at the box office. First up is this cool billboard for the second installment in The Divergent Series, Insurgent, which looks like it's taken leaf out of The Matrix with this action-packed ad creative.
Kingsman Secret Service movie billboard
Meanwhile Sofia Boutella was turning heads this month as the assassin with killer legs, 'Gazelle', in Kingsman: The Secret Service, be sure to click through for more billboards in this eye-catching outdoor ad campaign.
Cinderella special extension movie billboard
Talking about standing out and I love this magical special extension billboard for Disney live-action Cinderella movie and just look at those dramatic skies behind the billboard hoarding.
Chappie movie billboard
This year seems to be the year of A.I. with lots of films about robots and artificial intelligence, and Neill Blomkamp's Chappie is the first movie out of the gate in 2015.
Focus movie billboard
Meanwhile after a string of box office flops, Will Smith is back on the big screen at the end of this month as a conman in Focus. Let's hope he can beat the odds and regain his former stardom.
Hot Tub Time Machine 2 movie billboard
And if you were looking for some comedy this month, Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is the sequel that you thought you didn't need, but got anyway.
Lazarus Effect movie billboard
And for horror fans, The Lazarus Effect was bringing Olivia Wilde back to life this month to wreck some havoc on some medical students conducting dodgy experiments.

Music billboards
Lorde Grammy Effect 2015 billboard
The Oscars weren't the only big industry awards this month, as the Grammys also took place earlier in February to recognise musical talent and recording artists. If you like this ad creative featuring Lorde, be sure to check out more Grammy Effect billboards featuring Pharrell, Beyonce and Daft Punk too.
Gucci Timepieces Grammys 2015 billboard
And Gucci got in on the act this month as well to highlight their ongoing sponsorship of the music awards with their designer timepieces.
Madonna Rebel Heart billboard
Not only did pop icon Madonna perform at the Grammys this year, but she's also about to drop her new album, Rebel Heart, and this month there was a short burst of outdoor activity for her highly-anticipated new record.
Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack billboard
Another album of note this month is the sexy soundtrack to Fifty Shades of Grey, which received its own billboard in Hollywood.

As you can see this month the skies have been dominated by awards ceremonies for both the film and music industries, but I'm sure it will be business as usual next month.

Until then, stay tuned for more roundups for TV, fashion and lifestyle billboards gracing L.A.'s skyline this February...
