Emmy TV billboards making for a crowded L.A. skyline in June 2015...

This month has been jam-packed with a smattering of Emmy consideration billboards, all trying to get academy voters attention to garner coveted nominations for these television industry accolades. Using special extensions, clever imagery and copy, plus giant-szied ads, these TV shows are also competing with returning TV series and new Summer season shows (but we'll get to this another day). Emmy nominations will be announced on July 16, 2015, so keep your fingers crossed for all your favourite shows and actors.

Emmy consideration billboards
Bates Motel Emmy 2015 special extension billboard
First up is an eye-catching billboard for the third season of the Psycho TV prequel, Bates Motel. Does 'Mother' get your vote? Young 'Norman' may be angry if she doesn't.
Blacklist 2015 Emmy special billboard
After a brilliant season two outdoor ad campaign for The Blacklist, which featured James Spader's 'Red Reddington' on the covers of iconic magazines, the sophomore season also gets lots of support for Emmy consideration.

If you like this arresting special extension billboard, be sure to also check out the other Emmy billboards for The Blacklist.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Emmy 2015 billboard
The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, starring Ellie Kemper and Jane Krakowski, received some support for the debut season of the new Netflix comedy with this standout hot pink ad.
Transparent 2015 Emmy billboard
And before Caitlyn Jenner came along to usurp the Kardashians, Transparent and 'Maura' was blazing a transgender trail on Amazon. I love this outdoor ad campaign for the series, so be sure to check out the rest of this year's fun Emmy billboards for Transparent.
Empire Emmy consideration 2015 billboard
Empire was breaking all kinds of ratings records over on Fox for its first season, so surely 'Cookie and Luscious Lyon' should be in with a chance at winning a nomination for their breakout characters in the R&B music industry drama.
Walking Dead 2015 Emmy billboard
One of my favourite shows on TV is still The Walking Dead after five seasons surviving the zombie apocalypse, and even though the show always has great Emmy campaigns like last year's 'Something Human' billboards, the actors never receive the recognition they deserve because of the horror fantasy genre.
Giant Mad Men Emmy 2015 billboard
Meanwhile will Jon Hamm finally nab an Emmy for his portrayal of Mad Men's 'Don Draper' after seven previous nominations? There's lots of Mad Men Emmy 2015 billboards filling the skies, like this giant-sized version, so be sure to check out the other ads for popular characters like 'Joan', 'Peggy', 'Betty' and 'Roger'.
Giant Better Call Saul 2015 Emmy billboard
Also receiving the super-sized treatment along the Sunset Strip is Bob Odenkirk for the Breaking Bad prequel spin-off, Better Call Saul.
The Mindy Project 2015 Emmy billboard
Meanwhile, Fox may be canceling The Mindy Project sitcom, but Mindy Kaling and co. are moving to Hulu for a 26-episode fourth season, so an Emmy nomination would certainly help raise the profile of the series getting a fresh start.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine 2015 Emmy Billboard
After a Golden Globe win, Andy Samberg and the rest of the cats of Brooklyn Nine-Nine must be hopeful for an Emmy nomination or two for the police station comedy.
Mom sitcom 2015 Emmy billboard
Will Allison Janney repeat her Emmy win for her role in the CBS sitcom Mom this year, or will it be the turn of co-star (and the lucky wife of Chris PrattAnna Faris?
Girlfriends Guide to Divorce 2015 Emmy billboard
Bravo, known for its reality TV programming, debuted its first scripted series last Fall, so can Lisa Edelstein and the show, Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce, garner any Emmy attention?
The Fighting Season Emmy 2015 billboard
The Fighting Season was also trying to make some noise in the skies this month and last for the war documentary series set in Afghanistan.
Jane The Virgin Emmy 2015 billboard
And fresh from her win at the Golden Globes earlier this year, can young actress Gina Rodriguez add another accolade to her mantle for her titular role in The CW's Jane The Virgin?
Girls Brilliant 2015 Emmy billboard
Whilst some networks and studios try gimmicks to catch your attention, HBO always has a great cohesive campaign design for its shows and specials. I showcased some last month, but here's another example for the fourth season of Lena Dunham's Girls series.

Be sure to get the full story by checking out HBO's 2015 Emmy ad campaign, featuring the likes of Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley, Veep, Last Night Tonight with John Oliver and many more.
Going for gold town of plastic Comedy Central billboard
Comedy Central always has fun billboards for its TV shows and also knows never to take itself too seriously at Emmy campaigning time either.

If you think this tongue-in-cheek jab at Hollywoodland is funny, be sure to check out more Emmy consideration billboards from last year featuring some fun Comedy Central examples.
Portlandia 2015 Emmy billboard
And finally, this Emmy billboard for the fifth season of sketch show Portlandia irreverently poked fun at the whole consideration process - "We'll do our own considering. Thank you very much". Hilarious.

As you can see there's lots of money spent to garner Emmy nominations and rightly so, as the winners not only receive industry recognition, but the shows can also attract new viewers, the networks and studios are seen to be rewarding their talent, and actors can potentially renegotiate their contracts, raise their profile and often land new parts as a result.

This is just a taste of all the Emmy billboards vying for Los Angelenos attention this past May and June, so be sure to get the full story at my Daily Billboard blog.

Plus stay tuned for even more TV show, movie, fashion and lifestyle billboards filling L.A.'s skies this June...
