Film and music billboards making L.A.'s skies more entertaining in September 2015...

This month there's been a fantastic selection of movie and music billboards trying to catch passersby eyeballs. Here's a collection of the best and brightest examples from around the streets of L.A. in September.

Movie billboards
Hotel Transylvania 2 Blob billboard
First up is one of my favourite billboards, this vibrant green blob special extension for the new Hotel Transylvania animated sequel really stood out along Melrose Avenue.
Hotel Transylvania 2 Dracula billboard
There was also more monstrously fun special extensions featuring the likes of Dracula, his vampiric daughter, a Mummy and Frankenstein, so be sure to check out all these other cool billboards for Hotel Transylvania 2.
Everest movie special extension billboard
Another movie using all the gimmicks to catch your eye was the mountaineering disaster movie, Everest.
Giant Everest movie billboard
If you like these cool creatives, be sure to also check out all these other giant-sized and special extension billboards for Everest around the streets and skies of L.A.
Maze Runner Scorch Trials movie billboard
Meanwhile, does anyone notice the similarities between these two creatives for Everest and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials? Theres's something about the perilous situation between two ridges that has the same feel, so it's unfortunate they are both in the skies at the same time.

Nevertheless, saying that I'm still loving the whole Maze Runner film franchise and think it's one of the better sound adult book adaptations to hit the big screen in recent years.
The Martian movie billboard
One film I'm trying no to be too excited about as there's such a huge buzz around it is Ridley Scott's new film, The Martian. I hope the movie about an astronaut left behind on Mars and presumed dead lives up to the hype.

I also go to see Matt Damon's NASA spacesuit from The Martian on display at the ArcLight Hollywood cinema the other day and it was a pretty awesome design, so be sure to click through and get a closer look on my costume blog.
The Intern movie billboard
Let's hope Nancy Meyers new movie, The Intern, fares better than the similarly titled The Internship with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn from 2013.

However, these billboards with Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway look more like an educational PSA on teaching the elderly how to use computers than a movie.
Sicario movie billboard
This yellow-tinted billboard creative for Emily Blunt's new drug cartel movie, Sicario, certainly stood out in the city skyline this month.
The Perfect Guy movie billboard
Whilst at the beginning of the month these ads for The Perfect Guy stalker movie seemed to be on every corner.
The Gift movie billboard
A billboard left over from last month, but a film I saw this month, was The Gift. It's a creepy suspenseful thriller of a movie about the past coming back to haunt you, which has great performances from its first time director Joel Edgerton, plus Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall.
Selma movie Epix billboard
To support all the new movies released on Epix, the video on demand service had these billboards around L.A., including for Selma, the new SpongeBob movie and Interstellar.
Spongebob movie Epix billboard
Be sure to also check out the fun bubble-blowing machine billboard installation for SpongeBob that was used to promote the new movie earlier in the year along the Sunset Strip for its theatrical release.
Interstellar Epix movie billboard
Plus if you loved Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic with Matthew McConaughey, enjoy all this Interstellar movie billboard ad campaign from last October.

Music billboards
David Gilmour Rattle that Lock album billboard
This month movies didn't have the monopoly on really cool special extension billboards either, as this stormy example for David Gilmour's new Rattle that Lock album illustrates.
Lana Del Rey Honeymoon album billboard
Meanwhile Lana Del Rey dropped her new album, Honeymoon, with this touristy summertime ad creative.
Janet Jackson Unbreakable album billboard
Janet Jackson is back and has this billboard for her fresh new album and her new tour, Unbreakable, along the rock and roll mecca of the Sunset Strip.
Duran Duran Paper Gods album billboard
80s legends Duran Duran may be playing at the Hollywood Bowl at the start of October, but they also released a new album, Paper Gods, this month with this fun retro ad creative.
Keith Richards Under the influence billboard
Plus over on Netflix there's a new documentary for the iconic Rolling Stones guitarist, Keith Richards, so the rocker was back along the Strip and around the streets of L.A.

As you can see there's been quite an eclectic selection of movie and music-themed billboards this month, with more and more popping up every day.

Be sure to check out my Daily Billboard blog for all the latest sightings and come back next month or another outdoor ad roundup.

Plus stay tuned for more great billboards from the worlds of TV, drinks and lifestyle in the days to come...
