March 2017's movies and music billboards turning heads in L.A...

Awards season may be temporarily over, but that doesn't mean there was any shortage of movie billboards in the city skies this month. Here's a selection of blockbuster film and music billboards trying to turn heads in L.A. this March 2017.

Movie billboards
Disney Beauty and the Beast movie billboard
Fist up is this romantic fairytale ad creative for Disney's live-action version of Beauty and the Beast. With the film well on the way to making $500 million in the U.S. and $700 million globally obviously audiences weren't put off in the least by any inclusion of gay characters.

Fans of the film can also enjoy these original Beauty and the Beast movie costumes on display.
Kong Skull Island movie billboard
Gigantic ape King Kong received yet another big screen remake this month and had this special extension cut-out and other eye-catching Kong: Skull Island movie billboards around the city streets and skies, so be sure to check them all out.

I'm not a fan of reboots, but I enjoyed the sheer spectacle of the movie and all the new creatures, and if you did too, make sure you check out these Kong: Skull Island film costumes on display.
Ghost in the Shell movie billboard
Even though there's some whitewashing controversy surrounding Scarlett Johansson's casting an as iconic Asian character in the film, I'm still looking forward to the live-action adaptation of the Manga series, Ghost in the Shell.

I'm a huge sci-fi fan, so it was also cool to see these amazing costumes and animatronics from Ghost in the Shell on display too.
Power Rangers movie billboard
Another franchise getting the big screen reboot this month was Saban's Power Rangers, and they certainly spent lots of money on out-of-home advertising to get audiences to check out the upgraded martial arts heroes.

Check out all these different Power Rangers movie billboards in the skies of L.A. this month.
Life movie billboard
There was more science fiction on offer this month, this time of the horror variety and these eye-catching Life movie billboards certainly channeled the Aliens movie vibe.
Phoenix Forgotten movie billboard
Speaking of horror and Phoenix Forgotten seems to be the latest found footage film trying to scare cinema goers, with three teenagers who go missing investigating mysterious lights in the skies.
Giant Fate of the Furious movie billboard
Another film franchise zooming back onto cinema screens soon is the eighth installment in The Fast and the Furious series. Take a look at all the other movie billboards for The Fate and the Furious filling L.A.'s streets and skies in recent weeks.
Custody Lifetime movie billboard
Meanwhile over on Lifetime, Oscar-winner Viola Davis was trying her hand at playing a judge in the TV movie Custody.
Discovery movie billboard
And Netflix's new original film offering, The Discovery, is about a scientist who determines that the afterlife is real and the effect this news has on people a year later.
Chips movie billboard
Yet another TV franchise getting the big screen treatment this month is CHiPS from the 1970s and 80s, although why every TV-to-movie adaptation needs to be a full on comedy is beyond me.
Going in Style movie billboard
meanwhile another crime caper getting a Hollywood remake is Going in Style, with Morgan Freeman, Alan Arkin and Michael Caine starring in the crime caper, out to get revenge against the bank that cheated them.
Smurfs Lost Village movie billboard
In the world of family flicks, the Smurfs go fully animated, with no live-action elements in their latest movie, The Lost Village.
Boss Baby movie billboard
And The Boss Baby seems to be the biggest trolling of Donald Trump, especially with the casting of Alec Baldwin to voice the business-loving toddler in this new animated comedy.
TCM Classic Film Festival 2017 billboard
Meanwhile in Hollywood it's time to celebrate iconic movies once again, with this billboard for the 2017 TCM Classic Film Festival which takes place in April.

Music billboards
Future Hndrxx album Spotify billboard
There seem to be have been less music billboards this month, but Spotify continues to have a big presence in the skies advertising its new album offering to stream, like Future's Hndrxx.
Green Day Early Years Spotify billboard Roxy
Plus Green Day: The Early Years series was getting a big push on the side of iconic Sunset Strip rock venues like The Roxy and Whisky A Go-Go.

Plus even though most big awards ceremonies were over last month, there was still time for one more with iHeartRadio's Music Awards 2017, with recording artist guests like Ed Sheeran.

As you can see the sprawling skies have been as busy as ever. If only the L.A. weather had been more cooperative in trying to capture all these visions in vinyl, as the rain, cloud cover and dreary conditions haven't helped.

Make sure to compare this year's offerings with last March's movie and music billboards, plus stay tuned in the days to come for more TV and lifestyle billboard roundups.

See you soon...
