May 2017's Emmy consideration and returning TV billboards around L.A...

Aside from all the summer blockbusters advertising in Hollywood's skies this month, May is also the time of year when most studios, networks and streaming services kick off their Emmy Awards campaigning. Here's a cool collection of Emmy consideration and returning TV show billboards trying to turn heads around L.A.'s streets and skies these past few weeks.

Emmy consideration billboards
popular vote wins Stephen Colbert Emmy billboard
Stephen Colbert's late-night audience has gone from strength to strength since he placed Donald Trump firmly in his satirical sights and 'This time, the popular vote wins' billboard trolls the Buffoon-in-Chief perfectly. In fact, if he was walking by on the street I'm sure he'd push his way to the front of the crowd to see it.
Late Show James Corden 2017 Emmy billboard
Also on CBS, James Corden is enjoying success on The Late Late Show, although at times his carpool karaoke is more of a viral sensation than the talkshow itself. Let's see if Emmy voters will consider the British host for Outstanding Variety Talk Series.
Full Frontal Samantha Bee 2017 Emmy billboard
Even though this current administration is horrific, it is the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to late-night satire and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee has certainly capitalised on the political world we find ourselves living in. Will this giant-sized consideration billboard on the side of West Hollywood's Andaz Hotel help her secure an Emmy nomination this year?
Giant Billy on the Street season 5 Emmy FYC billboard
Meanwhile on the eastbound side of the hotel Billy Eichner is super-sized to make people consider the fifth season of Billy on the Street, also poking fun at the President (who never won an Emmy by the way, which we know makes him so mad).
Good Fight season 1 Emmy billboard
The Good Wife spin-off The Good Fight was a critical success for CBS All Access, their on demand service, so let's see if these lady lawyers can secure some Emmy nominations for their debut season.
Feud Bette Joan Emmy billboard
FX's Feud: Bette and Joan brought a bitter Hollywood rivalry to the small screen this year, but will it land Susan Sarandon or Jessica Lange a nomination for their uncanny portrayals.
Handmaids Tale season 1 Emmy billboard
Hulu has really ramped up its original content offering and this season its timely TV adaptation of Margaret Atwood's 1985 dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale has really put the streaming service on the map, especially in light of recent politics.
Chance season 1 Emmy fyc billboard
Hugh Laurie is also hopeful for Emmy recognition for Hulu's drama series Chance with this consideration billboard.
Shut Eye season 1 Emmy FYC billboard
Plus Jeffrey Donovan star of fortune-telling drama Shut Eye are part of this year's cohesive Hulu FYC outdoor ad campaign.
Harlots season 1 Emmy FYC billboard
And this billboard for Hulu's brothel period drama, Harlots, is probably one of my favourites as it has real stand out in the skyline.
Transparent season 3 Emmy FYC billboard
This month Emmy consideration ads also started to appear for Amazon Prime Video and their original series, like their groundbreaking Emmy-winning drama Transparent, now in its third season.
Sneaky Pete 2017 Emmy FYC billboard
Another new series, Sneaky Pete with Giovanni Ribisi, is also hopeful for consideration for its debut season.
Fleabag 2017 Emmy FYC billboard
Plus Amazon was also shining a light on British comedy drama Fleabag starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge as part of its coordinated Emmy campaign.
Stranger Things season 1 Emmy billboard
All the streaming services seem to be spending big this month with Netflix also getting in on the action for their hit sci-fi horror homage to the 80s, Stranger Things.
The Crown season 1 Emmy FYC billboard
And following two Golden Globe wins, Netflix was hopeful to score some Emmy nominations for The Crown, chronicling Queen Elizabeth II's early years as Britain's monarch.
Jane the Virgin season 3 Emmy FYC billboard
Meanwhile The CW continued to champion Jane the Virgin, now in its third season, and its star Gina Rodriguez.
Better Call Saul season 3 Emmy FYC billboard
Plus towards the end of the month Emmy FYC ads started to appear for the third season of AMC's Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul.

TV billboards
Sense8 season 2 billboard
Even though the skies were starting to fill up with Emmy ads, there were still plenty of billboards for returning favourites around L.A.'s city streets, like this sophomore season billboard for psychic LGBT-inclusive drama, Sense8.
Twin Peaks Return billboard
Meanwhile after twenty five years Showtime was reviving Twin Peaks for eighteen episodes of mind-bending killings and craziness.
Kingdom season 3 billboard
And mixed martial arts drama Kingdom was bowing out with this 3D effect billboard for its third and final season.
Giant Animal Kingdom season 2 billboard
Whilst TNT's Animal Kingdom was setting fire to the skies for the sophomore season of the Southern California crime family drama.
Fear Walking Dead season 3 billboard
The Walking Dead spin-off series, Fear the Walking Dead, was turning heads this month with these gory billboards for the show's third season surviving the zombie apocalypse.
Preacher season 2 billboard
Plus comic book adaptation Preacher was back in the skies with this colourful special extension cut-out billboard for its second season.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 3 billboard
And with a similar colour palette, the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was rolling up her sleeves and bringing the cheer for her third comedic season.
Neon Joe season 2 billboard
Over on Adult Swim Jon Glaser was back as Neon Joe, Werewolf Hunter with this action-packed ad creative for the live-action show's sophomore season.
House of Cards season 5 billboard
The critically-acclaimed and utterly binge-worthy drama House of Cards returned to the skies for its fifth season, although the diabolical exploits of the 'Underwoods' seem to pale in comparison to real-life political scheming at the moment.
Bloodline final season 3 billboard
Another Netflix fan-favourite was back for your streaming pleasure this May, with Florida Keys family drama Bloodline back for its third and final season of murder, secrets and cover-ups.
Master of None season 2 billboard
Aziz Ansari's Emmy Award-winning comedy series, Master of None, was also back with the stylish black and white billboard ads for the show's second season.
F is for Family season 2 billboard
For its sophomore season billboard Netflix's animated comedy F is for Family was channeling Gone with the Wind.
Queen of the South season 2 billboard
Meanwhile, Alice Braga was reigning in the skies for the second season of drug lord drama, Queen of the South.
Queen Sugar season 2 billboard
And speaking of royalty, Queen Sugar was back for a sophomore season about siblings inheriting a sugarcane farm in Louisiana, based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Natalie Baszile.
Carmichael Show season 3 billboard
The Carmichael Show was back to debate current events, race and politics with this third season billboard.
Catastrophe season 3 billboard
Plus British comedy Catastrophe was back for a third season of coping with parenting, marriage, death, drink and career decisions.
Americas Got Talent season 12 billboard
For its twelfth season America's Got Talent is getting a new host in the form of Tyra Banks after Nick Cannon's exit.
Born This Way season 3 billboard
And the reality series Born this Way was back with this season three billboard following the lives of young people living with Down Syndrome.
Ion Equation billboard
Ion Television was showing off all its syndicated series, certainly a channel for people who like procedural crime shows.
Red Nose Day 2017 NBC billboard
And finally, it was once again time to don those red noses in the U.S. for the charity fundraising day with celebrity specials like a Love Actually movie reunion and Arrow's Stephen Amell running the American Ninja Warrior gauntlet.

As you can see there's lots of activity in the skies of L.A. this month, now if only the weather would cooperate so I could capture all these visions in vinyl in the best conditions.

Be sure to compare this May's skies with last year's TV billboards and Emmy consideration ad campaigns, plus stay tuned for even more new summer TV show billboards and comedy specials...
