October 2017's movie, music and games billboards turning heads in L.A.'s Fall skies....

This month the city skies of been getting passersby in the mood for Halloween with some scary movies, new comedies and super-heroic blockbusters on the way. Meanwhile in recent months there's been a resurgence in music billboards thanks in big part to streaming services like Spotify, making it the rocking Sunset Strip of legend once again. Here's a cool collection of the eye-catching movie, music and gaming billboards turning heads around L.A.'s streets and skies this October 2017.

Boo 2 Madea Halloween special extension billboard
First up is another slice of comedy from Tyler Perry with his scarily funny sequel, Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, and this brilliant special extension cut-out billboard.
Babysitter movie billboard
More comedy horror this month come sin the form of Netflix's devilish new film, The Babysitter, starring Samara Weaving as the titular killer sitter.
Jigsaw movie billboard
Meanwhile just when you thought this killer was dead, Jigsaw is back for an eighth installment in the Saw franchise.

Plus Jo Nesbø's crime thriller, The Snowman, was being adapted from book page to the big screen this month to provide some serial killer chills in time for Halloween.
Blade Runner 2049 movie billboard
After thirty-five years, 1982's cult science fiction crime noir classic, Blade Runner, was back with a fantastic sequel this month with Harrison Ford returning as 'Deckard' and Ryan Gosling putting in an impressive turn as 'Officer K'.

This film is more sci-fi than the original noir feel, looks stunning, although has a deafening soundtrack and could have been slightly shorter, but certainly a favourite film for me this year.

Thor Ragnarok movie billboard
Another film about to bring a sci-fi spectacle to the big screen is the third Chris Hemsworth solo outing with Thor: Ragnarok. Obviously being an Avengers movie he's not entirely alone in this cosmic adventure which sees the God of Thunder face the Goddess of Death 'Hela' in a story which also incorporates the Marvel Comics Planet Hulk storyline.

Superhero fans can also check out these original Thor: Ragnarok movie costumes on display.

And speaking of comic book heroes, it's almost time for the Justice League to unite for the first time ever on the big screen. Let's hope Wonder Woman can save the day with this DC Comics movie too.

There were two film outdoor ad camping which couldn't have been less well timed this month, one of those was for Only The Brave. Not to detract from the heroism of the firefighters featured in this film about the Granite Mountain Hotshots, but with devastating wildfires raging in Northern California and more locally near L.A., we didn't want to see the skies aflame this October.

Then after all the hurricanes, flooding and devastation across the U.S. in recent months, a film called Geostorm about satellites controlling the weather with deadly consequences was probably not to most appropriate at the moment.

Matt Damon and Julianne Moore were starring in George Clooney's new movie, Suburbicon, about a family in the 1950s taking on the mob in a seemingly perfect community.

Plus Agatha Christie's detective novel Murder on the Orient Express was getting the big screen treatment yet again with an all-star cast and director Kenneth Branagh as the infamous 'Hercule Poirot'.

More comedy sequels filled the skies this month with the return of those naughty mothers in A Bad Moms Christmas, which sees Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn and Mila Kunis meet their screen mothers for the festive season in the form of Cheryl Hines, Susan Sarandon and Christine Baranski.

Meanwhile Daddy's Home 2 introduced us to Mel Gibson as Mark Wahlberg's father and John Lithgow as Will Ferrell's dad.

And speaking of dysfunctional family, Netflix was also showcasing Noah Baumbach's new comedy drama, The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), around the streets of L.A. this October.

The film stars Dustin Hoffman as a many time married father and his estranged family including Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler, with his current wife played by Emma Thompson.

Also streaming on Netflix is Frank Grillo's new action movie, Wheelman, about a betrayed bank robbery getaway driver trying to find out who double-crossed him.

Call Me By Your Name is a coming-of-age LGBT drama I'm really looking forward to as I've rad the book by AndrĂ© Aciman, which chronicle the summer romance between a 17-year-old American-Italian Jewish boy and a visiting 24-year-old American Jewish scholar in 1980s Italy.

And it looks like the awards campaigning for Best Picture has officially begun in the city skies before the film even opens in cinemas.

So as you can see, it's almost like the old glory days of hand-painted billboards along the Sunset Strip with all these bands and artists appearing in the city skyline in vast numbers and ever-changing frequency.

With the nights drawing in and the gift-giving season fast approaching, this month also saw more video game billboards appear in the city skyline, including for Middle-Earth: Shadow of War.

Plus Call of Duty was back in the skies with lots of billboards for its new WWII-themed game.
