Fab fashion billboards making L.A.'s skies more stylish in March 2017...

Whenever I visit New York City it always feels like whenever you turn a corner there's yet another fashion billboard gracing a building, or billboard hoarding. In Los Angeles the fashion industry never seems as prevalent, although this March the skies have been filled with some pretty eye-catching and stylish fashion outdoor ads. Here's a selection of designer labels, celebrity endorsed brands and other fashionable billboards turning head this past month.

Fashion billboards

The singer has also been vocal in her opposition to the current administration and their abhorrent right-wing policies and she's not the only one, as this month Italian clothing brand Diesel was trolling Trump with this fabulous 'Make love not walls' billboard. Long live the love revolution.
Tom Ford Eyewear Spring 2017 billboard
He may have vowed not to dress the current First Lady in protest, but all eyes were on Tom Ford's new eyewear billboard high above Sunset Plaza showing off all his latest designer sunglasses and spectacle frames.

Meanwhile Target was super-sizing its clothing billboard on the side of West Hollywood's Mondrian Hotel for the retailer's new spring 2017 collaboration with Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer Victoria Beckham.

As you can see, even though the City of Angel's streets and skies may not be quite the fashion catwalk as the Big Apple, it still has its moments.

Make sure you take a look at last year's L.A. fashion billboards for the same time period and stick around in the days to come for more snapshots of the TV, movie, music and lifestyle billboards featured in the city skies this March 2017.

Another year, another L.A. Marathon I couldn't run...

Any runner will tell you how frustrating it is not being able to run when you're recovering from an injury, but on a marathon day it's even more annoying. For the second year in a row I had to cheer from the sidelines rather than join my friends and charity teammates on L.A.'s Stadium to Sea course because I'm still recovering from a bad back.

Supporting LA Marathon runners
But knowing how important it is to see a friendly face, or hear a cheer of support from a stranger on race day, we camped out between miles 14 and 15 as runners made their way down the hill along San Vicente Boulevard in West Hollywood.
2017 LA Marathon runners
My last two L.A. Marathons in 2014 and 2015 were real scorchers, so it was nice to see the day started with some cooling mist, but the sun soon burned through and you could see even at this stage in the race it was having an effect on some of the runners.

We came prepared for our friends and had bags of ice to hand out to keep them cool and water to top up their running bottles, as others have done in the past for us when we've participated.

Even though I wasn't running, it still felt like race day and I can't wait to be back out there myself in the future.

Congratulations to all the 24,000 runners who competed and hopefully finished the race, I didn't envy those hot last few miles on the way to Santa Monica.

In hindsight I realise now I should have stopped running when I first experienced the nerve pain symptoms in my leg, and not continued to run another three marathons or so.

I've been working for months on trying to strengthen my core to compensate for two bulging discs in my back, it's been slow and painful work, often two steps forward and one step back. I've even started to try and run a mile at a time again, then walk another four or five miles of my old training route.

I ran the 26.2 mile course from 2011 to 2015, plus also ran Honolulu, San Francisco, New York (twice), Vancouver (twice) and the London Marathon, so here's hoping I'll one day be able to lace up my shoes again and run another L.A. Marathon...
