TV and awards consideration billboards in L.A.'s January 2018 skies...

With entertainment industry awards shows like the Golden Globes and SAG Awards held in January, the skies of L.A. were not only filled with new and returning TV shows this month, but also a variety of awards hopefuls vying for your attention, mostly from Netflix.

The streaming service's 1980s women's wrestling comedy GLOW was really stand out in the city skyline, even if it didn't take home any trophies.

Jason Bateman and Laura Linney's drama Ozark was also in the running for accolades and got some outdoor support.
Jeff Daniels Godless SAG Award nominee billboard
Plus Jeff Daniels was in the spotlight for his Screen Actors Guild nomination for his Godless mini-series role.
House of Cards season 5 Robin Wright SAG Award billboard
And even though Kevin Spacey has ruined House of Cards for many people after reports of his predatory sexual behavior emerged and his subsequent firing from the show's sixth season, it was nice to see Robin Wright being support by Netflix for her fifth season performance in the city skyline.

In the land of new shows it may be another year, but that also means another superhero show to join the ranks in the form of The CW's DC superhero, Black Lightning.
American Crime Story Assassination Gianni Versace billboard
FX's true crime anthology series American Crime Story was back for a sophomore season with this striking medusa-theme key art, this time focusing on The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

Plus clown comedy Baskets returned for a third season with this wonderfully absurd special extension cut-out billboard.
Bellevue series launch billboard
And another extension cut-out turning heads this month was for WGN America's mystery thriller Bellevue starring Anna Paquin, although this series seems to have slipped under the radar and hasn't received much support beyond this blood spattered white picket fence billboard.
Electric Dreams series premiere billboard
Amazon Prime was debuting its answer to Netflix's dark sci-fi anthology series, Black Mirror, with Electric Dreams inspired by Philip K. Dick stories.
Chi series premiere billboard
This month Showtime was launching a gritty new drama set in Chicago's South Side called The Chi.
Trade series premiere billboard
Plus a documentary series, The Trade, which focuses on the U.S. opioid crisis through the eyes of the growers, addicts, cartel bosses and law enforcement.
Unsolved series premiere billboard
And USA Network was giving some super-sized support along the Sunset Strip for its new scripted crime series about the unsolved deaths of iconic rappers Tupac and Biggie Smalls.
Counterpart series premiere billboard
Over on Starz J.K. Simmons was headlining a new parallel dimension drama called Counterpart, which means we get to see twice as much of the Oscar-winning actor as he plays multiple versions of himself.

The Good Wife's Matt Czuchry was leaving behind law this January for his new medical drama on Fox, The Resident.
Alienist series launch billboard
Plus The Alienist limited series was making its debut, and the colour choice of this billboard give it a contemporary feel along with the name for a period thriller, although it proved incredibly hard to photograph.

And speaking of great colour combinations, Sharon Stone returned to TV for HBO's murder mystery Mosaic.

Plus another new HBO offering filling the New Year skies was Here and Now, a drama about a multi-racial family written by Alan Ball.

HBO's dark separation comedy Divorce was getting super-sized for its second season this month.
Real Time Bill Maher season 16 billboard
Plus Real Time with Bill Maher was returning for its sixteenth season and boy do Americans need to do more than talk in this current political climate, they need to vote out the corruption in Washington, D.C. and the White House.
Giant 2 Dope Queens comedy special billboard
Plus Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson were bringing some much needed levity with four comedy specials based on their podcast, 2 Dope Queens.
Will Grace season 9 so good billboard
And speaking of comedy, the Will & Grace sitcom revival is back with all-new episodes and just as funny as the previous incarnation from all those years ago.

Pop was also finding the funny in the New Year's health and fitness resolutions with their new comedy, Let's Get Physical.

Plus riches-to-rags comedy Schitt's Creek was back for a fourth season, getting some extra stand out with this family portrait cut-out billboard.

And over on Hulu, The Path returned for a third season of the cult drama with Aaron Paul taking the reins for these all-new episodes.

America's Next Top Model was back for a twenty-fourth cycle, but more importantly the boss, Tyra Banks, was also back to judge VH1's revival of the reality modeling competition.

And from the cutthroat fashion industry to the tedium of the corporate business world, as Comedy Central was launching its new dark satire of conglomerate office life.
Another Period season 3 billboard
Plus Another Period also returned to poke fun at the turn-of-the-20th century high society socialites for a third season.
