Dog-Blog: Training day...

Well maybe not a whole day of puppy training, but at least five minutes.

Our instructor suggests only training your dog for a maximum of fifteen minutes spread throughout the day, beyond that it's not worth it she says.  So today Cooper has been learning to walk nicely on the leash.  He did a good job, but obviously the stinky turkey treats in my pocket had nothing at all to do with him being so obedient.

The key I'm told is consistency, so making sure he walks to the left of us at all times and that we hold the leash correctly, that he's rewarded for his efforts and importantly at the right time.

She also encourages you to talk as you walk in a nice chirpy voice to get your puppy's attention.  So if you do see someone walking about West Hollywood with an adorable yellow Lab puppy looking totally mad having a conversation with his dog in a strange voice, that'll be me!

After his lesson it's always important to have a play...

...and then some rest, as it's tiring being a puppy and learning so many new things all the time.

Our Hollywood Hound is also the star of another blog, check out Labrador retriever puppies blog for the full story.

Anyway, enough puppy talk, we're off to Sing-A-Long Sound of Music tonight at the Hollywood Bowl, so I'd best get on so it's not a mad dash out the door later.

So long, farewell
Auf Weidersehen, goodbye
I leave and heave
A sigh and say goodbye
