June's drinks and lifestyle billboards gracing the L.A. skyline...

This month aside from all the Emmy consideration campaigns and Summer movie billboards filling L.A.'s skies, there's also been an eclectic mix of lifestyle billboards vying for our attention. Here's a collection of drinks, travel, technology, car and other lifestyle ad creatives making the streets of Los Angeles more interesting.

Drinks and food billboards
Giant Peroni Beer billboard
First up is a super-sized billboard for Peroni Nastro Azzurro beer, bringing a touch of Italian glamour to the Sunset Strip with their new look 'Sailor Girl' ad creative.
Dos Equis wolf pack billboard
Speaking of beer, and The World's Most Interesting Man was back with another fun creative for Dos Equis.
Johnny Walker Black Label Entourage movie tie-in billboard
In the world of Scotch whisky Johnny Walker had this cool sprawling L.A. bottle creative for its tie-in with the Entourage movie.
Giant Zico Coconut Water Flourish from the inside billboard
And this giant billboard for Zico coconut water, featuring Jessica Alba, would probably be a more striking ad if it wasn't being obscured by the new construction along the Sunset Strip (I hope the beverage brand is getting a discount for poor visibility).
Ben Jerry's ice-cream Lets spoon billboard
Meanwhile Ben & Jerry's is back with this cheeky innuendo-laden creative for its new Cookie Core ice-cream variant.

Adult billboards
Hustler Hollywood Your grill or mine billboard
From talk of spooning to an adult retail store, and Hustler Hollywood had this BBQ themed billboard just in time for Summer, although it's no way as funny as the store's recent stop vegetable abuse billboards.

Health billboards
Syphilis is serious blind cane billboard
And speaking of sex, make sure that you're taking care when indulging as some STDs are on the rise, like syphilis, and have some serious and lasting side effects, like blindness.

Education billboards
Economic Engines CSUN billboard
From one kind of education to another, and this California State University, Northridge billboard is made so much more interesting with the use of special extension gimmicks.

Travel, tourism and theme park billboards
Universal Studios Fast Furious Supercharged ride billboard
And speaking of gimmicks and Universal Studios Hollywood's latest special installation has a few. Not only does the billboard fro the new Fast & Furious Supercharged ride has moving helicopter rotors, but it also has a smoke machine to produce the effect of burning tyre smoke.
Disneyland 60 Mickey Mouse billboard
Also in the world of theme parks and Disneyland in California celebrates it's 60th Diamond anniversary with these 'Mickey Mouse' and 'Olaf' from Frozen character billboards.
Disneyland 60 Snowman Olaf billboard
Meanwhile if you're traveling to San Diego you can now go on safari at the zoo.
San Diego Zoo Safari Park billboard
And in the competitive world of air travel Delta isn't taking things lying down when it comes to calling out the other airlines, highlighting their flat-bed services.
We take other airlines lying down Delta billboard

Technology and telecommunications billboards
Shot on iPhone 6 cresting wave billboard June 2015
In the world of technology and telecoms, Apple continued to refresh its spectacular Shot on iPhone 6 outdoor ad campaign in the city skyline with another wave of stunning user-generated ad creatives.
Giant TMobile fastest Network flag billboard
And T-Mobile continued to turn heads using giant billboards and shocking hot pink to get its higher speed network message across.
Zingy dog walking app billboard
And the latest app to try their hand at outdoor advertising was for a new dog walking service called Zingy. As a dog owner the only issue I see with this service, is that unlike Uber where you're just happy to get a ride to your destination, you want someone you can trust to walk your pet, not just someone who's available in the area. But then I guess not all dog parents as as fussy as me.

Autos billboards
Chevrolet Trax city smart billboard
June was also a big month for car advertising, and obviously red shades were obviously the colour to be had as these Chevrolet Trax and Ford Focus billboards illustrate.
Ford Focus More is its thing billboard
Sadly car advertisements continue to be much duller than other brands that advertise outdoors.
Top Tier 76 gas billboard
Meanwhile 76 was trying use peer pressure to use their gas stations, because that's supposedly where all the cool drivers go.
Bike instead Metro billboard
And finally the L.A. Metro was trying to make its bus and train services run more efficiently by getting cars off the road by encouraging you to take your life in your own hands and bike (or walk) instead. The roads may be wider in L.A., but that doesn't make its drivers any less crazy.

So as you can see there's been a real assortment of billboards to catch your eye this month. Why not take a look at what lifestyle billboards were filling the skies this time last year as a comparison?

Stay tuned for one more snapshot of June's new and returning TV show billboards...

Movies and music billboards and more in the streets of L.A. in June 2015...

This June has been a spectacular month for fab movie billboard creatives, with giant-sized ads, special 3D installations and clever creatives turning heads in L.A. Here's a few of my top picks from the world of sci-fi, comedy, animation, superheroes, horror, plus a selection of music-themed billboards that caught my eye.

Movie billboards
Pixels special 3D PacMan movie billboard
First up is a fantastic gimmick billboard for Pixels The Movie, a comedy about aliens invading the guise of classic arcade game characters. Spied along the busy Sunset Strip in West Hollywood this pixelated 3D Pac-Man devouring the billboard hoarding certainly catches your attention.
Pixels The Movie billboards
In addition to Pac-Man, there was also this Donkey Kong ad creative further east opposite the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood.
Minions Cinerama Dome banana installation
And speaking of that infamous domed theatre along Sunset Boulevard, it got the Minions makeover this month, with three of the yellow pill-shaped creatures transformed into giant inflatable form chasing their banana for the Despicable Me animated spin-off prequel.
Giant Minions movie billboard
If you like that inventive PR stunt, which has also been done by the likes of Spider-man, Jack Frost and Shrek, be sure to check out more Minions billboards from the fun outdoor advertising campaign.
Magic Mike XXL movie billboard
Talking about sequels, and the male stripper movie, Magic Mike, starring the gorgeous, pulsating talents of Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello gets an XXL second cinematic installment this Summer.
Ted 2 special extension movie billboard
Plus the potty-mouthed, beer-drinking teddy bear and thunder buddy of Mark Wahlberg is back with a fantastic outdoor ad campaign for Ted 2.
Giant Inside Out movie billboard
Meanwhile a brand new story enjoying success at the box office and getting  agiant-sized billboard along the Sunset Strip is Disney/Pixar's Inside Out, which tells the story of the voices inside our heads - Joy, Anger, Digest, Fear and Sadness.
Giant AntMan light switch movie billboard
That original animation feature film was followed by this clever faux 3D billboard for Marvel's Ant-Man movie, which is such a fantastic, eye-catching concept helping to convey the fun and size-shrinking premise of the superhero.
Giant Entourage movie billboard Sunset Strip
Speaking of super-sized billboards and the Entourage movie had this towering wallscape on the side of the Mondrian Hotel, although it couldn't help it at the box office.
Terminator Genisys movie billboard
Even more sequels filled the skies this month with ads for the fifth installment in the Terminator film franchise, Terminator Genisys. Arnold Schwarzenegger may be back (with Game of Thrones Emilia Clarke), but there doesn't seem to be anything new or intriguing here.
Jurassic World movie billboard
And speaking of franchises with nothing new to offer, Jurassic World may have opened to a phenomenal box office for the dinosaur-themed sequel, but twenty years later it's still telling the same Jurassic Park story with very little originality.
Insidious: Chapter 3 movie billboard
The Insidious horror franchise had a third installment to offer fans, this time a prequel storyline.
Nightingale movie Masterful Emmy billboard
And the Nightingale film received some masterful Emmy consideration support this month, part of HBO's 2015 Emmy ad campaign, so be sure to check out the rest of the billboards for the premium cable network's shows and specials.
Deadly Adoption Lifetime movie billboard
And one of the most bizarre TV movies being advertised in the skies this month was for Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig's Lifetime thriller, A Deadly Adoption. By the sounds of things this serious movie starring the two comedy actors was a bit of a joke.
LA Film Fest 2015 billboard
And this month also saw the L.A. Film Fest take place in Downtown, although their billboard for the event is not the most exciting.

Music billboards
Muse Drones album billboard
In the world of music, British rock band Muse had this witty billboard for their seventh studio album, Drones.
Showtek Omnia nightclub billboard
Plus Omnia Nightclub in Las Vegas had this special extension billboard for the DJ duo, Showtek, as part of the nightclub's launch campaign.
The Other One Bob Weir documentary billboard
And finally, Netflix was promoting the groovy documentary about Bob Weir, the co-founder of the Grateful Dead rock band.

As you can see it's been a crowded month for lots of blockbuster movies, with new films, but also far too many sequels. If you like these ads, be sure to take a look at the movie billboards trying to get your attention in June 2014.

Stay tuned for more billboard roundups around L.A. in the days to come...

Fashion billboards gracing L.A.'s skies in June 2015...

June has been one of the quieter months in the skies of L.A. for fashion advertising, and what little there was either embraced Summer style (meaning lots of flesh showing), or offered a glimpse of new Fall 2015 collections.

Fashion and jewelry billboards
2Xist Tropic mens underwear billboard
First up in this selection of outdoor fashion ads is another revealing billboard for 2(X)ist and their latest Tropic men's designer underwear line.
OP swimwear 2015 billboard
Next there were more gorgeous bodies of Summer from Ocean Pacific swimwear (at more affordable high street prices).
Wildfox Summer 2015 fashion billboard
And Wildfox was getting in the festival spirit of Summer with its latest advertising.
Hale Bob Summer 2015 fashion billboard
And even though the start of June was a bit gloomy, when the sun did break through Hale Bob had fresh floral fabric designs to get you beach ready.
Hudson Jeans beach jeep billboard
Speaking of the beach, Hudson Jeans looks like they were having fun racing along the shoreline in an open-top Jeep.
Armani Exchange Summer 2015 billboard
Meanwhile in the skies of Sunset Plaza Armani Exchange teased their latest sunglasses and timepiece accessories to help keep you stylish in the sunshine.
Gucci FW 2015 fashion billboard
And Gucci was teasing passersby with their new Fall 2015 collection, which always seems so early when the sun is blazing hot in L.A.
Oakley One Obsession baseball billboard
Sports apparel brand Oakley continued its One Obsession ad campaign with this Matt Kemp baseball batting cage billboard.
George Clooney Omega Speedmaster watch billboard
And George Clooney brought some Hollywood celebrity presence to the skies of L.A. along the Sunset Strip, where passersby were seeing double of the actor in these Omega Speedmaster watch billboards on both sides of the street.

As you can see it really was a subdued month for fashion in the city skyline, so why not compare these ads to last June's fashion billboards.

Let's hope July has more fabulous fashion to offer L.A.'s skies, until then stay tuned in the days to come for all the TV, movie, music, drinks and lifestyle billboards of the past month...

Love wins and marriage equality comes to America...

The Beatles famously sang "All you need is love" and yesterday love won the day after years of blood, sweat and tears. Following years of struggle the U.S. Supreme Court announced yesterday that ruling 5-4, it was the Constitutional right for same sex partners to be treated equally in the eyes of the law in all 50 States of America and be allowed to be married where they lived, and more importantly be able to enjoy all the privileges of marriage as they travel around the U.S.
White House rainbow illuminated for marriage equality
This is huge and this victory for equality is something I thought would never come so quickly, but it's such a relief it has,  and yesterday and today I'm filled with love, joy and happiness, just as LGBT communities around the world in London, New York and San Francisco celebrate this annual Pride festivities. Today the U.S. and the world has something to celebrate.

Pride flags fly along Santa Monica Boulevard WEHO
As the verdict came in, after the equally encouraging result for Obamacare's survival the day before, my computer literally exploded with unicorns and rainbows as such a wave of unity, hope, relief and love was beamed across the internet and around the world.

The haters, religious zealots and bigots had lost and love had won the day and I was so encouraged by the messages of love and acceptance from gay and straight friends (or 'friends' as I like to call them), family, celebrities, politicians and businesses.
News vans Marriage Equality rally WEHO
Last night we joined the huge crowds in West Hollywood Park to celebrate the result of the Supreme Court decision and the news trucks were out in force to see the rally and speakers from the LGBT community and city officials.
Marriage Equality rally WEHO June 26 2015
Two years ago we'd all gathered in West Hollywood outside the Pacific Design Center to celebrate our victories over DOMA and Prop 8, which returned the right of gays and lesbians to marry in California and afforded us the same Federal legal rights as opposite sex couples enjoyed.
Marriage Equality rally WEHO June 26, 2015
About a month later I married my longterm partner at the Beverly Hills courthouse, but this result two years later means that now we can visit all 50 U.S. states and our marriage is valid and equal to everyone else's.

Now is certainly the time to celebrate, but there's still so much to do for full equality if you're LGBT. There are so many employment and housing rights that still have to be won (in most states you can still be fired for being gay), people can refuse to serve you in businesses around the country, plus we have important battles to help the transgender, youth and aging gay communities.
Marriage Equality signs
But for now I'll imagine a country where young kids can grow up knowing that whatever their sexual preference or gender identity, it is the accepted and normal thing for everyone to have the right to marry. Man and man, woman and woman, woman and man. The world's your oyster.

That helps lift huge barriers of discrimination and stigma, especially in communities where you may be 'the only gay in the village'. To know you are protected by the law and you have the choice to marry if you want to enjoy all the legal and commitment benefits of the union.

To know that you are just as normal as everyone else and you can come out of the closet, live the life you want to and love the person you want to. And have it legally recognised.
West Hollywood Marriage Equality rally
Let's hope that America's progressive move for equality can be a beacon for the rest of the world, helping to shine a rainbow light into the dark corners of countries like Iran, Russia, Uganda, Egypt and more, where LBGT people face discrimination, imprisonment, torture and death on a daily basis.

America's not perfect yet, but it's a fabulous start. I for one have hope for the future. Let's all try and be more open-minded, loving and better humans from now on.

No longer will it be 'gay marriage', now and forever it will just be 'marriage'.
