Exciting new season TV billboards in the skies of L.A. in August 2015...

If you thought the L.A. skyline was jam-packed with all those 2015 Emmy nomination billboards this month, that was only half of the story, as the streets and skies were also filled with new series and returning TV show ad creatives all vying for prospective viewers attention.

TV billboards
Fear the Walking Dead series premiere billboard
This season AMC's ratings winner The Walking Dead got a companion spin-off series called Fear The Walking Dead, set in L.A. and taking place at the start of the zombie epidemic when 'Rick Grimes' was in his coma. The premiere set cable viewing records with over 10 million viewers and the slow burn story is off to a chilling start, and this was the perfect L.A. themed billboard to kick things off.
Supergirl series premiere billboard
Audiences are still lapping up superhero movies and TV shows, so this Fall CBS is getting in on the action with Superman's cousin, Supergirl, with Glee's Melissa Benoist as the titular heroine. I really love this refreshing Supergirl ad campaign flying high in the skies of L.A. this month.
The Flash season 2 teaser billboard
Speaking of comic book heroes and The Flash is speeding back this October with this teaser billboard heralding his electric sophomore season (complete with modified emblem).

If MTV's remake of Scream didn't satisfy your teenage horror cravings, then this Fall get ready for Scream Queens, the brainchild of Ryan Murphy who brought you Glee and American Horror Story.

The new Fox show stars Emma Roberts, Keke Palmer, Lea Michele, Nick Jonas, Ariana Grande and Jamie Lee Curtis to name but a few, so be sure to also check out all these other Scream Queens billboards that have filled L.A.'s skies in recent months.
Quantico series premiere billboard
Over on ABC, Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra stars in the sexy FBI conspiracy thriller, Quantico, let's call it 'lipstick terrorism'.

Blood & Oil series teaser billboard
These teaser billboards for ABC's Blood & Oil were in the skies this month, for a soapy drama which seems like it'll be a mix of Dallas, Dynasty and Revenge this Fall.
Documentary Now series premiere billboard
SNL veterans Fred Armisen and Bill Hader took to the skies in various disguises this month for the new IFC series parodying famous documentaries.
Documentary Now series premiere billboard
Documentary Now! spoofs everything from mother-daughter recluses, to 70s rock bands and Mexican drug cartels.
Show Me a Hero series premiere billboard
Meanwhile Oscar Isaac was getting super-sized for a political mini-series based in the past in Show me a Hero, a story inspired by real-life events in the late 80s and early 90s which focused on the desegregation of public housing in Yonkers, New York.
Mr Robinson series premiere billboard
This month also saw Craig Robinson starring as a musician taking on a substitute teaching role to pay the bills in the new sitcom Mr. Robinson.
Survivor's Remorse season 2 billboard
Whilst pro-basketball comedy Survivor's Remorse was back for a second season on Starz with this ballsy ad creative.

And the tagline for new sitcom Born Again Virgin made me laugh out loud when I saw it on a training run one morning, 'She's got a new vagenda', indeed.
Hot Wives of Las Vegas series premiere billboard
Meanwhile The Hotwives were back on Hulu, but this time moving to Las Vegas instead of Orlando. Florida, to parody the wealth of Real Housewives reality TV shows.
Stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan was getting his own sitcom on TV Land, with a out-of-home launch campaign inspired by Banksy graffiti.
Kevin from work series premiere billboard
Whilst ABC Family's Kevin from Work was paying homage to John Cusack and his boombox in 80s romantic comedy Say Anything..., here Noah Reid had to make do with a shredder for the office comedy about awkward love at work.
Difficult People series premiere billboard
Difficult People was another quirky comedy offering from Hulu this month and this 'selfie' ad creative at a funeral sums up everything you need to know about the characters in this show.

Plus The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail was back for a sophomore season of live stand-up comedy, doing it all not for the fame, but the billboard (a sentiment I can get behind).
Drunk History season 3 Uncle Sam billboard
Drunk History was back for an inebriated third season and helping them out this time was a merry Uncle Sam.

If you like this eye-catching patriotic parody, be sure to check out the other clever Drunk History billboards featuring U.S. President's Richard Nixon and George Washington.

Bringing comedy, song, dance, celebrities, games and more besides to Tuesday nights this Fall is Neil Patrick Harris in the new variety show, Best Time Ever - let's wait and see if the show lives up to the title's promise.

Good things come to those who watch Dr Phil billboard
Whereas daytime talk show host and therapist Dr. Phil is back for a staggering fourteenth season of discussing people's intimate problems on TV.
Giant Tig Notaro Boyish Girl Interrupted billboard
And finally I'll leave you with this cool giant-sized billboard for Tig Notaro's HBO comedy special, Boyish Girl Interrupted. After seeing everything she went through in her Netflix documentary Tig, I'm fascinated by the cancer-surviving comedian.

As you can see it's been a crowded sky this August, with many new billboards appearing almost daily.

Be sure to check out my Daily Billboard blog for all the new TV show arrivals and come back next month for another snapshot of out-of-home advertising around the streets of L.A.

As always, watch this space...
