New TV billboards crowding L.A.'s skies in March 2016...

These days it's becoming harder and harder to keep up with all the TV shows filling our screens and the skies of L.A. That means that studios are also having to make more effort to grab your attention with cool ad creatives and eye-catching gimmicks. Here's a collection of all the new series and returning favourites gracing the city skyline in March 2016.

TV billboards
Race for the White House series premiere billboard
With the country in a heightened state of anxiety over the Presidential primary elections, this giant-sized billboard for CNN's Race for the White House is even more timely, and the documentary series examines key political races from the past and all the dirty tricks they entailed.
House of Cards season 4 billboard
Speaking of Presidents, and the scheming 'Underwoods' are back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the fourth season of Netflix's House of Cards, and it really is Claire's season to shine.
The Americans season 4 billboard
Another show returning for a fourth season is The Americans with this really striking creative for the Russian KGB sleeper agents living the family life and carrying out missions for the Motherland in the 80s.
Fear Walking Dead season 2 billboard
The Walking Dead spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, is also back for its sophomore season with this cool skull sunset creative. I can't wait to see them fill in the gaps from the start of the zombie apocalypse, especially exploring new ground (or water) by the sea on the West Coast.
Special barb wire Containment teaser billboard
To tease The CW's new infectious outbreak miniseries, Containment (which is based on the Belgian series Cordon), this cool special installation with barbed wire running along the top of the billboard designed to look like metal container could be spied above L.A.'s Whisky A Go-Go club this month.
Outlander season 2 painting frame billboard
Speaking of cool gimmicks, and the second season of Outlander had these ornate wrap-around picture frame cut-out extensions to help catch your eye to the 'Frasers' new Parisian adventures.

If you're a fan of Starz adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's time-travel novels, be sure to check out these giant-sized billboards for Outlander too.
Bates Motel season 4 billboard
Also returning for a fourth season is A&E's Bates Motel and it looks like little 'Norman Bates' is becoming more and more like his mother, and the killer from Psycho, every day.
Banshee final season 4 billboard
Another cable show back for a fourth and final season is Cinemax's cult-favourite, Banshee. I've always loved that they tried something different with their season promo billboards, by having them illustrated and depicting various grisly deaths makes them stand out in the cluttered skies.
Empire midseason 2 billboard
Over on Fox their breakout hit Empire returns for the final dramatic episodes of its second season, and this time all of the Lyon family is in the spotlight.
Carmichael Show season 2 billboard
NBC's The Carmichael Show is back for a second season of episodes for the issue-related sitcom unafraid to touch on topical subjects like gun control, Bill Cosby, police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Underground series premiere billboard
Meanwhile, WGN America's new series Underground isn't about a woman being held in bunker by a psycho killer, but a historical drama about the Underground Railroad helping black slaves escape from plantation farms in the South in the U.S. in 1857.
Damien series premiere billboard
Damien is another new series making its debut with this striking photo negative creative and the horror show spins out of 1976 movie classic about the Anti-Christ, The Omen.
11 22 63 Hulu TV series billboard
Here's also a series launch billboard for Hulu's new Stephen King adaptation 11.22.63, starring James Franco as a man who travels back in time to attempt to prevent the assassination of JFK.
The Path series premiere billboard
The subscription streaming service also has another original show making its debut, the cult thriller The Path, starring Aaron Paul, Hugh Dancy and Michelle Monaghan.
The Catch series premiere billboard
Over on ABC, Shondaland offered up another drama for Thursday nights with The Catch, starring Mireille Enos and Peter Krause, about a private investigator who's tricked out of her life-savings by her con-artist fiancé.
The Family series premiere billboard
And The Family got extra exposure this month, with this giant-sized billboard high above Wilshire boulevard for the drama about a son who is returned to his politician mother and her family after ten years of being missing and presumed dead.
Of Kings and Prophets series premiere billboard
Meanwhile ABC also enjoyed (if that's the right word) the first cancellation of the new season with Of Kings and Prophets, their Biblical Game of Thrones attempt bombing. It's a shame as the outdoor ad campaign for Of Kings and Prophets was quite bold and striking around the streets of L.A.
Heartbeat series premiere billboard
NBC is offering up another medical drama this month, this one starring Melissa George as one of the only female heart surgeons in the world, hence the bloody hand-heart ad creative.
Ink Master Revenge billboards
Over on Spike it's time for the seventh season of the reality show about tattoo artistry, Ink Master.
Ink Master Revenge season 7 billboard
This time the artists are out for Revenge and this collection of billboards for the series were snapped at Sunset & Vine in Hollywood.
Giant Fuller House series premiere billboard
Fuller House was reviving the 80s/90s sitcom Full House on Netflix and the streaming service was spending big bucks to support the comedy with this super-sized billboard at the start of the Sunset Strip.
Gaycation series premiere billboard
At first I thought that someone was exploiting the LGBT community with this 'Gaycation' TV show, but then I learned that it was actually a cool documentary series with newly out-of-the-closet Juno actress Ellen Page and her gay bestie, exploring attitudes to gays around the world.
Like a Boss series premiere billboard
Over on Oxygen Nick Cannon was producing a new reality show, Like a Boss, exploring what it's really like to be an assistant to a power player in business in Atlanta.
Cooked series premiere billboard
Don't be fooled by this ad creative for Cooked in Netflix, it's not all about baking and recipes, it's about the origins of cooking with the elements, fire, water, earth and air. Personally I didn't enjoy as much as last year's Chef's Table documentary series.
Jimmy Carr Funny business Netflix billboard
This month Netflix was also bringing us a slice of British humour with a standup special from Jimmy Carr, appropriately called Funny Business.
Flaked series premiere billboard
Meanwhile Will Arnett was staring in Flaked, a comedy about a recovering alcoholic living in Venice, California, and this almost sepia ad creative really evokes the feel of the beachfront neighbourhood.
Characters series premiere billboard
And is it me or is Netflix taking over the world, as they also had this fun and vibrant billboard for their new sketch show The Characters, where eight comedians get the opportunity to create their won thirty minute episode of whatever they want.
The Detour series premiere billboard
It's funny I shouldn't be mad, but West Hollywood decided to plant some extra palm trees along the Sunset Strip and they totally block a few ad sites, like this regular TBS location, casting an unnecessary shadow in all the wrong places. However, this series premiere billboard for the family road trip comedy, The Detour, really catches your eye with the slightly creepy topsy-turvy faces.
Scare PewDiePie YouTube Red series billboard
This month YouTube Red continued to support its paid for content channel with billboards for its original shows like Scare PewDiePie. Be sure to also check out more YouTube Red movie and TV billboards at my Daily Billboard Blog.
Carli and Doni billboard
Speaking of YouTube stars, and wake and bake comedy duo Carlie and Doni had this vibrant rainbow taco-riding billboard around L.A. this March.
Watch our stream Adult Swim website billboard
And finally, Adult Swim was inviting passersby to watch their live stream of insanity using a real-life natural stream. Brilliant.

I hope you can appreciate just how many new shows are popping up and demanding our attention these days, it's almost overwhelming. Who has the time to watch this much content? It'll be interesting to see if television sees an implosion in the future, or whether even more content providers will come along to try and capture your precious TV viewing time.

If you like all these outdoor ads, be sure to also check out what TV show billboards were filling the skies of L.A. last Spring.

The longer I spend in this business called 'billboard land', okay maybe that's just what I call it, the crazier it seems.

Who knows what surprises next month will bring...

Spring fashion billboards filling L.A.'s sprawling skyline in March 2016...

The more things change, the more they stay the same, as black and white advertising still tends to rule in the world of fashion as this collection of stylish billboards from around the streets and skies of Los Angeles in March 2016 illustrate. Fortunately there's also some splashes of colour to help make you feel that Spring has sprung in Southern California.

Fashion billboards

Gigi Hadid Stuart Weitzman Spring 2016 shoes billboard
Speaking of footwear and Gigi Hadid was back in a fresh new b&w ad creative for Stuart Weitzman's designer shoes.
Max Mara Spring 2016 fashion billboard
Model Freja Beha Erichsen replaced celebrity Amy Adams on Max Mara's Spring fashion billboard along the Sunset Strip.
Saint Laurent Paris S16 fashion bilboard
And people were seeing double with the tiara-wearing Steffi Soede in the latest Spring ad creative for Saint Laurent Paris.
Prada Spring 2016 fashion billboard
Further east along the Sunset Strip model Yasmin Wijnaldum was debuting Prada's Spring looks in their regular ad location.
Celine Spring 2016 fashion billboard
Meanwhile French ready-to-wear brand Céline had this retro ad creative looking like the model (Vera Van Erp) was cut out from a fashion magazine and pasted to the billboard along Pico Boulevard this month.
Naked Princess Redefining Boudoir billboard
And Naked Princess may have been redefining the boudoir, but they were also bringing a lightness and fresh springtime feel to L.A.'s skies.
Jessica Alba DL1961 jeans billboard
Denim looks were all around the city streets and models seemed to be striking similar poses too, even if some like DL1961 were sporting celebrities like Jessica Alba.

If you're a fan of the actress and entrepreneur, be sure to also check out her Zico coconut water billboards from recent years.
Artisan De Luxe Spring 2016 fashion billboard
Artisan De Luxe were also on hand this month to offer some ripped denim jeans for your Spring wardrobe.
Hudson Jeans Spring 2016 billboard
And Hudson Jeans, who infrequently change their billboard creatives were sporting a new look for the Spring season.
Joes Jeans Spring 2016 shorts billboard
Plus Joe's Jeans were getting in the Spring spirit with some shorts along the Sunset Strip.
American eagle Outfitters Denim X Shorts billboard
American Eagle Outfitters were back in the skies with new denim looks for shorts for women.
American Eagle Outfitters Flex Shorts billboard
Plus with this youthful, fun wall mural for their men's shorts offering for sunnier outdoors weather.
Very Perry Ellis surfboard Spring 2016 billboard
Surf was up for Perry Ellis this month with this surfboard ad creative, although it'll soon be too hot for suits in L.A. as the temperature start to soar (especially at the beach).
2xist activewear Spring 2016 billboard
2(X)ist was also showing of their men's activewear with new ad creatives in the West Hollywood skyline.
2Xist swimwear Spring 2016 billboard
Plus it's never too early to advertise swimwear in L.A., especially when you have someone like André Ziehe to model your trunks (although I think there'll be more drinks around the pool than paddle-boarding taking place).

Fragrance billboards
Theo James Hugo Boss Scent billboard
And finally The Divergent Series hunky actor Theo James was the handsome face of The Scent from Hugo Boss this month on the side of The Beverly Center mall. If you're a fan of the British star, you can also enjoy his talents in these Allegiant movie billboards.

As you can see there was a real runway of fashion and clothing brands parading their new looks in March's crowded city skies. Be sure to take a look at the fashion billboards from last Spring to see how the times have changed.

Stay tuned for this month's TV show billboards making L.A.'s skyline even more jam-packed these past weeks...

Movie and music billboards around L.A. in March 2016...

This month the skies were once again packed with a wonderful assortment of film and music-themed billboards, including some rather cool cut-out special extensions and giant-sized billboards. Here's a selection of the outdoor ads that caught my magpie eye this March 2016.

Movie billboards
Divergent Allegiant movie billboard
First up is this cool extension billboard for The Divergent Series new installment Allegiant. Unlike most critics I actually enjoyed this movie better than the second one, I felt it had more sci-fi elements as we glimpsed a world outside the walls, and I also thought all these Allegiant movie billboards were really eye-catching.
Batman v Superman movie billboard
From a film franchise coming to an end, to a new blockbuster franchise dawning and the epic battle of Batman v Superman.

It seems like DC Comics fans have really gotten a kick out of seeing their most iconic heroes going head-to-head, opening to $420 million at the box office worldwide.
Batman v Superman film billboard
Dawn of Justice heralds to start of the world building for the forthcoming Justice League movies, plus the DC Extended Universe, but personally I wish it wasn't all so gloom and doom.
Jungle Book snake billboard
Another ad campaign which really caught me eye this month was for Disney's live-action version of The Jungle Book.
Jungle Book movie billboard
The cut-out 'Kaa' snake special extension and magnificent 'King Louie' ad creative are just some of the head-turning ads, so be sure to enjoy all these other Jungle Book movie billboards filling the sprawling city skyline.
10 Cloverfield Lane movie billboard
10 Cloverfield Lane also had a cool billboard creative which lived up to the film's surprising, inventive and intense nature, and I really liked the fact it didn't take the expected plot turns.
Huntsman Winters War movie billboard
Another sequel, or prequel, heading to the big screen is The Huntsman: Winter's War, which tells the origins of Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron's characters, and more, from 2012's Snow White & the Huntsman movie.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Sword of Destiny billboard
Meanwhile another sequel arriving after fifteen years is martial arts movie, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, this time finding a home on Netflix's streaming service rather than at cinemas.
Peewees Big Holiday movie billboard
Pee-wee Herman was also riding through the city skyline this March for his new Netflix movie, Pee-wee's Big Holiday, starring alongside True Blood's strapping Joe Manganiello.
Giant Confirmation movie billboard
Scandal's Kerry Washington was channeling Anita Hill in the skies of L.A. for the HBO film Confirmation, about the woman's landmark 1991 Senate testimony about sexual harassment by Justice Clarence Thomas.
Keanu movie billboard
Sketch show comedians Key & Peele leap from the small screen to the big screen with their new comedy Keanu, about a kidnapped cat who they try to find, which leads them into whole heap of trouble with violent gang members.
The boss movie billboard
Melissa McCarthy brings another character to life on the big screen with The Boss, a comedy about a business tycoon busted for insider trading and forced to rebuild her life when she gets out of prison.
Criminal movie billboard
Speaking of crime and Kevin Costner stars in a film about a dead CIA agent whose memories are implanted into a dangerous ex-con in order to finish a mission.
My Beautiful Broken Brain billboard
This month also sees a billboard for Netflix's new documentary, My Beautiful Broken Brain, along the Sunset Strip. The film is about Lotje Sodderland recovery after she suffered a stroke which left her unable to communicate and altered her perceptions.
Mad Max Fury Road iTunes billboard
Apple's iTunes was promoting its streaming and digital download movie offering with some cool ads, like this arresting Mad Max: Fury Road creative and other billboards for The Martian and Straight Outta Compton.
2016 MTV Movie Awards billboard
Meanwhile Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson were having tongue-in-cheek fun as hosts of the 2016 MTV Movie Awards.

Music billboards
Rihanna Anti album billboard
In the world of music, I spied another billboard for Rihanna's new album Anti. The out of focus ad creative is actually visually hard to look at, which makes it stand out even more.
Zayn Mind of Mine album billboard
One Direction's Zayn Malik mad his solo appearance along the Sunset Strip with this billboard for his debut album Mind of Mine.

Plus if you're a fan of 1D, be sure to check out these One Direction billboards with the whole group from recent years in the skies of L.A.
Iggy Pop Post Pop Depression album billboard
From a bright young thing to a classic punk icon, Iggy Pop, with a billboard for his new and seventeenth studio album, Post Pop Depression.
Borgeous 13 album billboard
DJ Borgeous also had this moody ad creative along Sunset Boulevard for his debut album, 13.
Jennifer Lopez All I Have Las Vegas residency billboard
Meanwhile this full-length body billboard for Jennifer Lopez's Las Vegas residency show, All I Have, was spotted above the soon to be demolished House of Blues along the Sunset Strip. If you like this vertical ad, be sure to check out this giant JLO billboard for her Vegas show too.

If you like this selection of outdoor ads filling L.A.'s streets and skies, make sure you take a gander at these movie and music billboards from this time last year.

Be sure to also stay tuned in the coming days for March's TV and fashion billboard roundups...
