New TV billboards crowding L.A.'s skies in March 2016...

These days it's becoming harder and harder to keep up with all the TV shows filling our screens and the skies of L.A. That means that studios are also having to make more effort to grab your attention with cool ad creatives and eye-catching gimmicks. Here's a collection of all the new series and returning favourites gracing the city skyline in March 2016.

TV billboards
Race for the White House series premiere billboard
With the country in a heightened state of anxiety over the Presidential primary elections, this giant-sized billboard for CNN's Race for the White House is even more timely, and the documentary series examines key political races from the past and all the dirty tricks they entailed.
House of Cards season 4 billboard
Speaking of Presidents, and the scheming 'Underwoods' are back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the fourth season of Netflix's House of Cards, and it really is Claire's season to shine.
The Americans season 4 billboard
Another show returning for a fourth season is The Americans with this really striking creative for the Russian KGB sleeper agents living the family life and carrying out missions for the Motherland in the 80s.
Fear Walking Dead season 2 billboard
The Walking Dead spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, is also back for its sophomore season with this cool skull sunset creative. I can't wait to see them fill in the gaps from the start of the zombie apocalypse, especially exploring new ground (or water) by the sea on the West Coast.
Special barb wire Containment teaser billboard
To tease The CW's new infectious outbreak miniseries, Containment (which is based on the Belgian series Cordon), this cool special installation with barbed wire running along the top of the billboard designed to look like metal container could be spied above L.A.'s Whisky A Go-Go club this month.
Outlander season 2 painting frame billboard
Speaking of cool gimmicks, and the second season of Outlander had these ornate wrap-around picture frame cut-out extensions to help catch your eye to the 'Frasers' new Parisian adventures.

If you're a fan of Starz adaptation of Diana Gabaldon's time-travel novels, be sure to check out these giant-sized billboards for Outlander too.
Bates Motel season 4 billboard
Also returning for a fourth season is A&E's Bates Motel and it looks like little 'Norman Bates' is becoming more and more like his mother, and the killer from Psycho, every day.
Banshee final season 4 billboard
Another cable show back for a fourth and final season is Cinemax's cult-favourite, Banshee. I've always loved that they tried something different with their season promo billboards, by having them illustrated and depicting various grisly deaths makes them stand out in the cluttered skies.
Empire midseason 2 billboard
Over on Fox their breakout hit Empire returns for the final dramatic episodes of its second season, and this time all of the Lyon family is in the spotlight.
Carmichael Show season 2 billboard
NBC's The Carmichael Show is back for a second season of episodes for the issue-related sitcom unafraid to touch on topical subjects like gun control, Bill Cosby, police brutality and the Black Lives Matter movement.
Underground series premiere billboard
Meanwhile, WGN America's new series Underground isn't about a woman being held in bunker by a psycho killer, but a historical drama about the Underground Railroad helping black slaves escape from plantation farms in the South in the U.S. in 1857.
Damien series premiere billboard
Damien is another new series making its debut with this striking photo negative creative and the horror show spins out of 1976 movie classic about the Anti-Christ, The Omen.
11 22 63 Hulu TV series billboard
Here's also a series launch billboard for Hulu's new Stephen King adaptation 11.22.63, starring James Franco as a man who travels back in time to attempt to prevent the assassination of JFK.
The Path series premiere billboard
The subscription streaming service also has another original show making its debut, the cult thriller The Path, starring Aaron Paul, Hugh Dancy and Michelle Monaghan.
The Catch series premiere billboard
Over on ABC, Shondaland offered up another drama for Thursday nights with The Catch, starring Mireille Enos and Peter Krause, about a private investigator who's tricked out of her life-savings by her con-artist fiancé.
The Family series premiere billboard
And The Family got extra exposure this month, with this giant-sized billboard high above Wilshire boulevard for the drama about a son who is returned to his politician mother and her family after ten years of being missing and presumed dead.
Of Kings and Prophets series premiere billboard
Meanwhile ABC also enjoyed (if that's the right word) the first cancellation of the new season with Of Kings and Prophets, their Biblical Game of Thrones attempt bombing. It's a shame as the outdoor ad campaign for Of Kings and Prophets was quite bold and striking around the streets of L.A.
Heartbeat series premiere billboard
NBC is offering up another medical drama this month, this one starring Melissa George as one of the only female heart surgeons in the world, hence the bloody hand-heart ad creative.
Ink Master Revenge billboards
Over on Spike it's time for the seventh season of the reality show about tattoo artistry, Ink Master.
Ink Master Revenge season 7 billboard
This time the artists are out for Revenge and this collection of billboards for the series were snapped at Sunset & Vine in Hollywood.
Giant Fuller House series premiere billboard
Fuller House was reviving the 80s/90s sitcom Full House on Netflix and the streaming service was spending big bucks to support the comedy with this super-sized billboard at the start of the Sunset Strip.
Gaycation series premiere billboard
At first I thought that someone was exploiting the LGBT community with this 'Gaycation' TV show, but then I learned that it was actually a cool documentary series with newly out-of-the-closet Juno actress Ellen Page and her gay bestie, exploring attitudes to gays around the world.
Like a Boss series premiere billboard
Over on Oxygen Nick Cannon was producing a new reality show, Like a Boss, exploring what it's really like to be an assistant to a power player in business in Atlanta.
Cooked series premiere billboard
Don't be fooled by this ad creative for Cooked in Netflix, it's not all about baking and recipes, it's about the origins of cooking with the elements, fire, water, earth and air. Personally I didn't enjoy as much as last year's Chef's Table documentary series.
Jimmy Carr Funny business Netflix billboard
This month Netflix was also bringing us a slice of British humour with a standup special from Jimmy Carr, appropriately called Funny Business.
Flaked series premiere billboard
Meanwhile Will Arnett was staring in Flaked, a comedy about a recovering alcoholic living in Venice, California, and this almost sepia ad creative really evokes the feel of the beachfront neighbourhood.
Characters series premiere billboard
And is it me or is Netflix taking over the world, as they also had this fun and vibrant billboard for their new sketch show The Characters, where eight comedians get the opportunity to create their won thirty minute episode of whatever they want.
The Detour series premiere billboard
It's funny I shouldn't be mad, but West Hollywood decided to plant some extra palm trees along the Sunset Strip and they totally block a few ad sites, like this regular TBS location, casting an unnecessary shadow in all the wrong places. However, this series premiere billboard for the family road trip comedy, The Detour, really catches your eye with the slightly creepy topsy-turvy faces.
Scare PewDiePie YouTube Red series billboard
This month YouTube Red continued to support its paid for content channel with billboards for its original shows like Scare PewDiePie. Be sure to also check out more YouTube Red movie and TV billboards at my Daily Billboard Blog.
Carli and Doni billboard
Speaking of YouTube stars, and wake and bake comedy duo Carlie and Doni had this vibrant rainbow taco-riding billboard around L.A. this March.
Watch our stream Adult Swim website billboard
And finally, Adult Swim was inviting passersby to watch their live stream of insanity using a real-life natural stream. Brilliant.

I hope you can appreciate just how many new shows are popping up and demanding our attention these days, it's almost overwhelming. Who has the time to watch this much content? It'll be interesting to see if television sees an implosion in the future, or whether even more content providers will come along to try and capture your precious TV viewing time.

If you like all these outdoor ads, be sure to also check out what TV show billboards were filling the skies of L.A. last Spring.

The longer I spend in this business called 'billboard land', okay maybe that's just what I call it, the crazier it seems.

Who knows what surprises next month will bring...
