With all the Emmy award campaigning and new Fall TV season series competing for your attention this month, these returning TV shows are doing their best to standout in the crowded L.A. skyline.

Netflix's gritty drug drama Narcos returns for a sophomore season and it looks like someone has a bullet with cartel lord Pablo Escobar's name on it.
Empire season 3 billboard
And speaking of empires, although this one of the R&B music industry variety, Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson are back for a third season of scheming to stay on top in Fox's hit series, Empire.
Giant Survivors Remorse season 3 billboard
Starz off-the-court basketball drama, Survivor's Remorse, also received some super-sized support this month for its third season.
Voice season 11 billboard
And also in the world of music, reality singing competition The Voice is back for an eleventh season on NBC, with new coaches Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys (although they still kept racist and homophobe Blake Shelton too). It's the first time there have been two female mentors, so maybe next season there should be three women as there are so many solo divas to choose from.
RuPauls Drag Race All Stars season 2 billboard
Over on Logo one of my favourite reality shows was back, RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, back for a fierce second season of drag drama.

If you're a fan of the show, be sure to also check out all these Emmy-nominated RuPaul's Drag Race costumes on display in West Hollywood.
Daily Show Trevor Noah 2016 Election Coverage billboard
With election fever sweeping the nation, Trevor Noah's Daily Show had this fun mud-slinging assault course ad creative to satirically mock the political season.

And Adam Conover was back to bust all those commonly held myths in these second half of his debut season Adam Ruins Everything billboards.

Plus over on Adult Swim, The Eric Andre Show was back for a fourth season of hilarity with this acrobatic ad creative.

And E! News had this witty Justin Bieber inspired ad creative along the Sunset Strip to support its pop culture credentials.

Whist Entertainment Tonight was also promoting its Hollywood celebrity connection with this arresting pink billboard, with Nancy O'Dell and Kevin Frazier.

As you can see there are plenty of TV billboard gracing L.A.'s streets and skies in August 2016, and that's just the established shows.

Getting an early start on Labor Day celebrations in Palm Springs...

Los Angeles is a great place to live, with a thriving, diverse population, so much going on and stone's throw from the beach. But there's nothing like leaving behind all the honking horns, crazy drivers and pace of life for the heat and calmer temperament of Palm Springs (that is, as long as you have a pool and air conditioning to relax in).

Our home away from home for the next few days
Palm Springs vacation rental
With Labor Day fast approaching we thought we'd get away earlier and make the most of the fact that  not many people go to Palm Springs at this time of year with the soaring temperatures (it got up to 111°F today).

And even though my eyeballs felt like they were melting from my skull when we first arrived this afternoon (after dropping Cooper at his doggie spa, because he hates the heat) and caught up with a friend for lunch at Lulu's, sitting outside in this Mediterranean-like heat with the cicadas chirping away feels like bliss.
Palm Springs living interior
Obviously going away is not without its drama, and as we sat down for a bite to eat we discovered that our intended rental house had sprung a leak, so we had to change where we were staying at the very last minute.

Fortunately everything worked out for the best. Now a few cocktails later and an early evening swim to cool us off, we could get used this way of life, and of late have been considering investing in a property here.
Palm Springs swimming pool
But really, what's not to love about sunshine and swimming pools. Now, back to the important business of relaxing...

Fab fashion and fragrance billboards around L.A. in August 2016...

With August almost over and Fall fast approaching, the skies of L.A. have been starting to fill up with more and more new season fashion billboards these past few weeks. Here's a selection of the stylish fashion and fragrance outdoor ads that caught my eye this past month.

Fashion billboards
Hudson Jeans Fall 2016 kiss billboard
First up it looks like this Autumn it's time to fall in love with Hudson Jeans, as there's a whole lot of kissing going on when you're wearing them.
Hudson Jeans Fall 2016 billboard
It's the oldest trick in the advertising book, but sex really does sell, as this new black and white ad campaign proves.
Stuart Weitzman boots FW 2016 Gigi Hadid billboard
Meanwhile this month, above Sunset Plaza Gigi Hadid having fun with footwear, sporting a killer pair of Stuart Weitzman boots. She's wither practicing her martial arts moves, or trying out for the women's soccer team.
Guess Hailey Baldwin Fall 2016 billboard
Stephen Baldwin's daughter, Hailey Baldwin, was striking a pose for Guess and their Fall campaign in multiple ad locations this August.
Guess Hailey Baldwin FW 2016 billboard
And British model and presenter Alexa Chung was once again modeling for AG Jeans for their Fall 2016 collection.

Transformers movie star and model, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, was also back in this sexy ad creative in the skies near Melrose Place for Paige denim jeans and apparel.

Plus Burton was showing off how durable and versatile their clothing offering is, although in Southern California we don't have to worry about severe changes in weather seasons so much.

Along the Sunset Strip Tags was taking a stroll to promote their boutique, where they have the latest women's fashion for less.

And Lunya was a new advertiser in the skies with this provocative ad campaign of smaller ad creatives.
Lunya sleepwear Fall 2016 billboard
They are certainly going for a sexy, sexual innuendo ad message for their luxury sleepwear for women.
Good in bed Lunya sleepwear Fall 2016 billboard
And as the Olympic Games took place in Rio this month, it's no surprise to see a watch brand like Omega enlisting the likes of record-breaking swimmer Michael Phelps to help them sell more timepieces.

Fragrance billboards
La Femme L'Homme Prada fragrances billboard
In the world of fragrances, luxury Italian fashion house Prada was showing off its designer scents for women and men with this new shared ad creative.
My Burberry Black fragrance billboard
Plus British actress Lily James was stripping off to showcase Burberry's new My Burberry Black perfume for women.

August 2016's movie, music and gaming billboards turning heads in the skies of L.A...

Even though most of the Summer blockbusters have come and gone at the cinema, that doesn't mean the skies haven't been filled with movie billboards this month. Here's a cool collection of film, music and gaming billboards trying to grab passerby attention in L.A. this August 2016.

Movie billboards
Blair Witch movie billboard
Even though we're in a bit of a lull at the box office at the end of August, that doesn't mean the studios are not gearing up for future releases, like this striking red billboard for the return of the Blair Witch shaky cam horror franchise to the big screen.
Bridget Joness Baby movie billboard
Speaking of returning film franchises and twelve years after the second comedy movie, Renee Zellweger is back and facing pregnancy in Bridget Jones's Baby, this time we're left wondering who's the father.
Girl on the Train movie billboard
Meanwhile this October seeing another literary tale translated to the big screen with Emily Blunt starring as The Girl on the Train.
Deepwater Horizon movie billboard
Another film coming soon is based on a true story of peril on the high seas as an explosive fire breaks out on an oil rig in Mark Wahlberg's new movie, Deepwater Horizon.
War Dogs movie billboard
Another movie out this August was War Dogs, also based on the true events of young entrepreneurial U.S. arms dealers, with an obvious Scarface movie homage in their ad campaign.
Snowden movie billboard
In September Joseph Gordon-Levitt takes on the role of Edward Snowden in a film directed by Oliver Stone, when an NSA agent infamously leaks thousands of classified documents to the press.
Sully movie billboard
The future certainly seems to be filled with drama based on real-life events, as Tom Hanks plays a pilot that landed a crippled passenger airplane in New York City's Hudson River in Sully.
When the Bough Breaks movie billboard
From real-life thrills, to terror of a different kind and When the Bough Breaks sees a young surrogate mother become obsessed with the father-to-be.
Ben Hur movie remake billboard
One film franchise trying to get a reboot this August and bombing at the box office was the biblical epic Ben-Hur. Why would any studio try and remake such a classic that won eleven Academy Awards for the original 1959 movie starring Oscar-winner Charlton Heston in the first place?
Sausage Party movie billboard
One film that triumphed at the box office this month was the R-Rated animated comedy Sausage Party. It helped that the movie had a fun tongue-in-cheek ad campaign filled with sexual innuendo, so be sure to check out all these other Sausage Party billboards.
Little Prince Netflix movie billboard
From animation aimed at adults to an animated film of a different sort based on the classic tale of The Little Prince, streaming on Netflix this month.
Tallulah movie billboard
Netflix is certainly snapping up lots of good films of late, much to the distress of the traditional studios and networks, including the new Ellen Page and Allison Janney baby snatching drama, Tallulah.
XOXO Netflix film billboard
They also brought XOXO to the small screen, the new twenty-something coming-of-age drama set at an electronic dance festival starring Modern Family's Sarah Hyland and The Good Wife's Graham Phillips.

Music billboards
sleep when dead Steve Aoki documentary billboard
Netflix has also become a destination for great documentaries, and the latest explores the loud life of superstar DJ Steve Aoki.
Katy Perry Rise billboard
And also in the sphere of music Katy Perry was paying homage to Apocalypse Now with this ad creative for her new single Rise.
Adele Sold out LA concerts billboard
Plus am I the only person not to have seen Adele in concert this month? I'm a little confused why they needed so many billboards for her concerts when they all sold out before they went up.
Tritonal Painting with dreams tour billboard
DJ music duo Tritonal also had this trippy butterfly-themed billboard for their new Painting with Dreams Tour in the skies of Sunset Boulevard this month.
YouTube Music app billboards Sunset Strip
Plus YouTube Music was really pushing their new app in a big way around the streets of L.A. this August.
MTV Video Music Awards billboard 2016
And tomorrow it's time for MTV's annual Video Music Awards, or VMAs, so expect some show-stopping performances from stars like Britney, Rihanna, Future, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj and Nick Jonas.

Radio billboards
Woody Show Now sucks less radio billboard
The Woody Show also continued to have some self-deprecating billboards in the skies for their morning radio program.

Gaming billboards
Summoners War Your war Your way billboard
And finally, the popular Summoners War online game returned to the summer skies this month, and if you like this ad creative, be sure to check out these other magical billboards from last year.

You can also compare this collection of ads with last Summer's movie and music billboards, plus stay tuned in the days to come for more roundups of the fashion, Fall TV and Emmy nomination billboards crowding the skies of L.A. this past few weeks.
