All creatures great and small in L.A...

Today I thought we'd take a much needed break from politics and all the evils of this scary world and focus on something far fluffier and de-stressing, our adorable Labrador Cooper and a whole menagerie of other creatures great and small.

The other day when we were out for our local West Hollywood walk he spied his other dad on the opposite side of the street and our usual plodding 9-year-old couldn't contain his excitement, giving his 'second favourite' dad a true Labrador welcome. Now isn't that a happy sight to behold?

Beverly Hills Animal House
Garden animal statues Doheny Drive Clifton Way LA
Meanwhile also with regards to the animal kingdom, if you've ever driven down Doheny Drive at Clifton Way in Beverly Hills you've probably spied the garden filled to overflowing with actual sized animal sculptures, be they giraffes, lions, gorillas, elephants and more wild animals besides. It's a tad bizarre, but also very sweet at the same time.

It kind of reminds me of the wacky House of Davids that used to be in Hancock Park and also brings to mind another unorthodox abode, the Witch's House in Beverly Hills.

There's never a dull day in La La Land and isn't that better than thinking about politics and the end of the world as we know it...

This May 2017 it wasn't just movies, TV shows and fashion brands trying to turn your head, there was also an eclectic mix of food, drinks, tourism and technology billboards also trying to stand out around L.A.'s streets and skies.

Theme park, travel and tourism billboards
Guardians Galaxy Mission Breakout Disney billboard
First up, straight off the success of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie sequel, Disney's California Adventure was debuting its Mission: Breakout attraction featuring Marvel's ragtag bunch of cosmic heroes (which replaced The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at the theme park). Fan favorites 'Rocket Raccoon' and 'Baby Groot' certainly helped this billboard stand out this month.
Create art not monotony Reno Tahoe billboard

On the way in, hundreds of people lined up for their special selfie opportunities with the film's key art and others posed next to original costumes featured in the movie.

Fortunately I'd seen some of Mary Zophres Oscar-nominated La La Land costumes on display at ArcLight Hollywood cinema and at Downtown L.A.'s FIDM Museum previously.
Hollywood Bowl La La Land Live
This extravaganza may have been a non-Bowl lease event but it was certainly a fabulous way to kick off the summer season of outdoor entertainment.

Let's hope someone in the crowd takes you where you wanna go this long Memorial Day weekend...
