Film and music billboards entertaining L.A.'s August 2017 skies...

Even though most of the summer's blockbuster releases fizzled over the month of August, there were still plenty of forthcoming films on the horizon and original movies being streamed to grace the city skies, plus Spotify continued to fill the streets with music artists new and familiar.

Movie billboards
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Blu-ray billboard
With not many summer releases to promote, Disney used its regular giant billboard site along the Sunset Strip to promote the Blu-ray and digital release of Marvel's cosmic sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
IT movie remake billboard
Following the 1990 IT mini-series, Stephen King's 1986 book is getting the big screen treatment with Bill SkarsgÄrd bringing the evil 'Pennywise' demonic clown to life. I just love these simple red balloon special extension billboards for the film.
Dark Tower movie billboard
Another Stephen King adaptation finally enjoying screen time this month was The Dark Tower, and even though the tale of the 'Gunslinger' and the 'Man in Black' wasn't that well received, personally I enjoyed the film as I'd loved the original book series although it could have done with a bigger budget and longer running time to fit everything in.
Death Note movie billboard
Another fantasy horror being adapted this month and filling the city skies is Netflix's live-action Death Note film, based on a popular manga stories.
Lego Ninjago movie billboard
Also in the world of fantasy the Lego film franchise gets another computer-animated comedy spin-off with The Lego Ninjago Movie, based on the Lego toy property.

Speaking of comedy and this month Ryan Reynolds was teaming up with Samuel L. Jackson to play The Hitman's Bodyguard, protecting an informant and making sure he made it alive to testify at trial.
True to The Game movie billboard
Another book being adapted for the cinema this September is Teri Woods 2007 True to the Game starring Scandal's Columbus Short.
American Assassin movie billboard
And the adaptations keep on coming with Vince Flynn's 2010 novel, American Assassin, coming to the big screen with Teen Wolf's Dylan O'Brien, plus Michael Keaton, Sanaa Lathan and Taylor Kitsch starring.
American Made movie billboard
Meanwhile Tom Cruise is hoping his next movie fares better than The Mummy reboot as he stars in the biopic crime film, American Made, based on the life of Barry Seal, a pilot who became a drug smuggler for a Colombian cartel in the 1980s.
Kingsmen Golden Circle movie billboard
The Kingsmen comic book adaptation is getting a sequel this September, with the British secret service agents meeting their American equivalents in The Golden Circle.

Naked Netflix film billboard
Also on the subscription streaming service Marlon Wayans brings his brand of comedy to the small screen with Naked, where he's forced to live a Groundhog Day existence on the day of his wedding.
Chasing Titles Vol 1 film billboard
Meanwhile things get a little dark and crazy when a delivery guy tries to run a shady side business to provide for his family and it all goes wrong in Chasing Titles Vol.1.
Battle of the Sexes tennis ball teaser billboard
This month I'm loving this tennis ball teaser billboard that I spotted at Fox Studios for upcoming sports biopic, Battle of the Sexes.
Icarus documentary billboard
Plus this ad creative is very clever for the Icarus documentary, about the Russian Olympic doping scandal. You could also see this Icarus relay runner billboard split in two on either side of the Sunset Strip this August, making it an even more eye-catching spectacle.
Step movie billboard
Meanwhile Step was documenting the journey of high school senior year girls Step dance team trying to succeed and build a future for themselves against the backdrop of inner-city Baltimore.

Not without its controversy for her new look, edgier sound and digs at her detractors, her new record is still breaking records on Spotify and YouTube.

Plus this 'Hey Kylie' billboard really caught your eye along Sunset Boulevard this month and when you visit the website it seems to be for a rapper called A.K. Is the Kylie he's after Kylie Jenner do you think?
