Film and music billboards in L.A.'s December 2017 holiday skies...

At this festive time of year you can always guarantee that the holiday skies are filled with movies opening to entertain the Christmas crowds, plus lots of films campaigning for consideration as awards season and the run up to the Oscars kicks into high gear. Here's a cool collection of movie and music billboards standing out in Hollywoodland's December 2017 skies.

Star Wars Last Jedi movie billboard
First up is a giant-sized billboard for the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi movie, which I personally loved. New ideas, new characters, new directions and unexpected twists and turns, it certainly refreshed the sci-fi franchise in my eyes.

Fellow fans of the movie from a galaxy far, far away can also check out these Star Wars: The Last Jedi costumes on display.

In addition to big screen blockbusters there were also new films coming to streaming services this month, like Netflix's new fantasy cop mashup Bright starring Will Smith and Joel Egerton.

You can also enjoy all the other Bright movie billboards, which takes place in a world where Orcs, Fairies and Elves live side-by-side with humans in an alternate world modern day setting.

Another more festive offering from the strong giant this month is El Camino Christmas, where five people end up barricaded in a liquor store on Christmas Eve in the fictitious town of El Camino, Nevada.

Hugh Jackman is returning to his musical roots this month as 'P.T. Barnum' in The Greatest Showman.

Zendaya also stars as a trapeze artist in this period musical with contemporary songs from the Oscar-winning lyricists of La La Land.

Margot Robbie was standing out in the skies as U.S. figure skater Tonya Harding, with Allison Janney as her mother and Sebastian Stan as her ex-husband in the sporty biopic, I, Tonya.
