My latest Huntington Dog Beach visit was a pain in the arse, quite literally...

Well, 2018 is off a fantastic start. Today I drove to Huntington Dog Beach to get all of Cooper's New Year energy out and for my efforts someone rear-ended my car for the second time in two weeks.

Both Cooper and I needed a visit to the beach, not only to take advantage of the gloriously clear and crisp skies, but to get me away from a computer screen and to refresh our spirits.

As you can see Cooper had a ball, chasing in and out of the waves, swimming when the strong waves allowed and rolling about in the sand, much to the delight of passersby.

All my troubles dissolved away after an hour or so watching our Labrador have such a fun time, then it was time to drive home, which can take anywhere from an hour to two, depending on traffic.

Waiting at a light on Goldenwest Street, the second person this year to go into the back of the my car jolted me back to reality. The first was along the Sunset Strip in stationary traffic two weeks ago, I'd only just repaired the bumper on Friday and now a second person has done even worse damage to the brand, shiny new bumper.

No one was hurt, although it isn't doing my neck and back any favours, and she had insurance (hopefully valid), so at the end of the day it is what it is, but still. Come on guys, I thought 2017 was a bad year, but 2018 isn't shaping up to be any better.

I think I'll buy a lottery ticket and see if all this bad luck can be balanced out....
