New TV show and returning favourite billboards filling L.A.'s May 2019 skies...

People often ask me why do I do what I do, and by that I think they're asking why do I spend my time taking loads of billboards pictures around L.A. For me it's about capturing a snapshot in time, cataloguing all these clever ad creatives and being able to look back in the future and say those were the TV shows we used to watch at that period in history. Here's a cool collection of all the returning and new TV show billboards gracing the city's sprawling skyline this May 2019.

Paradise Hotel series premiere billboard
First up is this cheeky ad creative for Paradise Hotel, a new reality show set at a tropical resort, which takes a leaf out of Game of Thrones book with its 'Summer is Coming' tagline and font.
Grand Hotel series premiere billboard
And speaking of vacations, ABC's new summer drama set in Miami Beach also takes place at a Grand Hotel with similar amounts of beach bodies by the looks of things.
Animal Kingdom season 4 billboard
TNT's family crime series Animal Kingdom is surfing back for a fourth season of fiery drama if this billboard is any indication.
Big Little Lies season 2 teaser billboard
And keeping to the theme of open waters, HBO's Big Little Lies second season was being teased with this clever watery copy puzzle design spelling out 'New Lies'.
City on a Hill series premiere billboard
Showtime's new drama City on a Hill was traveling back to the 1990s to take on Boston's crime families and the city's entire criminal justice system.
Strange Angel season 2 billboard
And the CBS All Access original drama Strange Angel was back for a sophomore season of mixing science and the occult in 1940s L.A.

This month Epix was also filling the skies with billboards for its new thriller about magicians, pastors and swindlers, Perpetual Grace, Ltd. starring Ben Kingsley.

If you were looking for some feel good entertainment this summer then America's Got Talent is back for a fourteenth season of competition with new judges Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough and host Terry Crews to mix things up.

And if that doesn't satisfy your reality music competition cravings, then NBC also has a new songwriter series called Songland to entertain you.

And if you're over superheroes then you may like the new TV adaptation of The Boys comic books by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, about vigilantes taking on corrupt mask and cape wearers.

And speaking of comic book characters, Syfy was back with a second season of DC's Krypton, telling the hidden history of Superman's home planet.
Fear the Walking Dead season 5 billboard
From superheroes to zombie comic book adaptations, and Fear The Walking Dead was back in the skies to promote a a fifth season this month.
Handmaids Tale season 3 billboard
From zombie apocalypses to other dystopian futures and The Handmaid's Tale was teasing a third season, with the promise for some freedom for the enslaved women of Gilead.
Catch 22 Hulu limited series billboard
Whilst Hulu was also supplying some World War II drama with its Catch-22 mini-series directed by George Clooney and based on the 1961 novel of the same name by Jospeh Heller.
Lucifer season 4 billboard
Over on streaming giant Netflix, Lucifer was being revived for a fourth season after Fox pulled the plug on the comic book series starring Tom Ellis as the devil.
Designated Survivor season 3 billboard
Kiefer Sutherland's political drama Designated Survivor was also being given a new lease of life with a third season after being cancelled on ABC.

The Society was also exploring a world without adults on the streaming service when high school students return from a camping trip to find their town devoid of grown ups in a modern take on Lord of the Flies.

Meanwhile Renée Zellweger stars as a mysterious benefactor to cash strapped newlyweds in the new Netflix thriller What/If this May.

This month Oscar-nominated and Emmy winning documentary maker and director Ava DuVernay brings us the new enraging docu-series about the falsely accused Central Park Five, When They See Us.

Plus Spike Lee was delivering more comedy with the sophomore season of the episodic adaptation of his breakthrough She's Gotta Have It movie, starring Wanda DeWise.

And also in the world of comedy, Netflix was paying homage to NBC's classic Laugh-In sketch show with a new special.

Meanwhile The New York Times was bringing its brand of trusted, truth-seeking journalism in a new TV series, The Weekly.

Also on FX, Zach Galifianakis was back for a fourth season of comedy as a wannabe rodeo clown in Baskets.

And speaking of sitcoms, The Big Bang Theory was coming to an end this month on May 16 after twelve seasons of hilarity.

May 2019's film, music and podcast billboards entertaining passersby in L.A...

The weather may have been mixed this May, but there were certainly a lot of movie and music billboards to brighten the sprawling city skyline. Here's a collection of cool film, music and even podcast billboards trying to turn heads around La La Land this month.
